Here is my thoughts for districts. What do the rest of you guys think in the other districts? Who are the key players and contenders from the teams outside of the STL area?
Class 6
District 1-Favorite to win is DeSmet. They have an easy 1st round game against Pattonville. Then they will face the winner of CBC v SLUH. CBC is my guess to win that one. CBC v DeSmet II is supposed to be for the title but will have to do as a semifinal. In the other side of the bracket, you have Hazelwood W v Hazelwood C and Francis Howell Central v Howell. Look for West and Howell to win and Howell to beat West in the semis. In the finals, I give Howell a chance to keep it close but I think DeSmet will prevail. Interesting thought, what if Antonio Doyle had stayed at Hazelwood W, would he be able to make a difference between West and Howell?
District 2- Blue Springs is my pick to win this district. Zumwalt West will have no problem winning Week 1 but I give Blue Springs the upset win in the Semifinals. I have Blue Springs South and Rock Bridge winning in upsets in the 1st Round and then Rock Bridge winning the semi finals.
District 3- Joplin is the favorite to win this district. Kirkwood wins the 1st round but then has to face Joplin. Would love to see an upset here but I think Joplin wins this one. In the other half, look for a Lindbergh upset over Lafayette and then Marquette cruising in both the 1st and 2nd round. Joplin beats Marquette in the final.
Class 5
District 1- Jackson and Fox meet in the finals and look for Jackson to win easily.
District 2- Eureka and Mehlville advance to the finals and Eureka wins in a blowout.
District 3- Webster advances to meet Chaminade. Chaminade wins the semis and the beats McCluer North, who wins a close one over Parkway West in semis. Chaminade blows out McCluer North in the finals.
District 4- Zumwalt North and Battle play in the finals and Zumwalt beats Battle by a large margin.
Class 4
District 1- Farmington has an easy run in this one and beats Cape Central in the finals
District 2- St. Mary’s is my pick. District up for grabs. Look for McCluer and Hazelwood East to win their 1st round games and then I have Hazelwood E upsetting McCluer in the semis. St. Mary’s and Affton win their 1st round games and then St. Mary’s wins the semifinal match. St. Mary’s then advances out of this district.
District 3- Ladue is the favorite. Look for them to advance easily in 1st Round to a matchup with Westminster in the 2nd Round. Rams should win that one. MICDS and Summit should win their 1st round games and play an epic battle in Round 2. Ladue over Summit in the finals.
District 4- Liberty wins the 1st round and then beats Kirksville in the semis. St. Dominic and Hannibal meet in the semis and Hannibal advance to the final where they beat Liberty.
District 4- Camdenton wins this district after beating Washington in the semis and Helias in the finals.
Class 3
District 2- Roosevelt wins in the 1st round but then loses to Sullivan in the 2nd Round. St. Clair advances to semi finals where they beat Borgia. St. Clair then beats Sullivan to take the district title.
District 3-Trinity advances to finals with blowout win over U. City. Priory takes the semifinals over Burroughs and then Trinity advances out of this district.
District 4- St. Charles West beats Mexico in the semis and take on Lutheran SC who beat Moberly in their semi final clash. Look for an upset, Lutheran SC upsets St. Charles West in the finals
Class 2
District 2- Lutheran N crusies in this district as they blow out Grandview, Cuba and Lift for Life to claim the title. Only decent game will be Duchesne v Lift for Life in semis, give Lift for Life the edge. Look out for Duchesne in years to come as they played a bunch of 9th Graders this year.
District 5- Christian High will in 1st round as Centralia wins the district.
Class 1
District 6 Brentwood will lose in 2nd round to Harrisburg, but South Calloway advances out of this district.
