A disgraceful lack of respect for an opponent. Suspension of some kind warranted beyond the ejection. At least one game. A good coach cannit tolerate that.
When ejected, you have to sit out the next game.
Why when it's a black kid is "thug" always the go-to adjective? Seems like a trend.
I'm sure if it had been a white kid, "thug" wouldn't have ever been brought up. Only say that because when it's a white kid I have yet to see the word "thug" thrown around. Seems to only apply in certain circumstances, you know, with certain races...Wonder why that is?
I will lose all respect for the BS coaching staff if that player isn't permanently banned from the program (not that they care what any of us think).

Kid made a terrible mistake.
Donahoe won't put up with that, at least, that's what I think will occur. That kid's leash just got about as short as you can get. Should he be suspended for the year? IDK, a lot of awful stuff happens in football games, hockey games, stuff you don't see. This was just in the open. I'm not condoning his actions one bit, and I do think the 1 game will wake him up.
Actually, before minority groups started making such a big deal about it, the term was almost exclusively used for white hitmen in organized crime circles (aka: The Mafia).

Why does race have to be brought in?? What he did was wrong and I concidered him a thug because of his actions not the color of his skin. One game doesn't sound like enough!
Because that seems to be the go-to pejorative anytime a black person does something wrong. I've literally never heard a white person referred to as a thug for any reason.
I'm not the only one who has made the connection. White people use "thug" as a semi-polite replacement for the N-word.

If this had been a pattern for this kid last year or his freshman year I would agree with a year suspension or worse. The kid made a bad mistake. I think for now a game suspension is good. Hopefully this will be a learning lesson.

Someone is protesting too much. If you aren't, you aren't. Don't worry about it.
No one is calling you racist, simply pointing out (with references) that the word "thug" has taken a racial connotation, and rightfully or not is used in a lot of instances as a "nice" way of dropping the N-bomb.
It's not your fault. In our evermore pc society, things like this get the fringe all fired up. You should if you are the offended be happy - they just exposed their bias to you instead of covering it up.
I would say pops is not too far behind as that's obviously age discrimination. I'll still call my dad that in any social situation, because HE would be offended if I didn't.

End of the day, the kid screwed up and has immediately apologized for it.
Heck I remember a running back from Parkway Central kicking me while rolling off the pile about 15 years ago. It happens. The kid is sorry and I think knows he messed up.

I am with Bubba on this. The thing that makes it bad is that the game was on TV in the KC Metro and with the weather conditions - postponed games - a lot more people saw it live than otherwise would have. And then a lot more saw it on tape.
I trust the Blue Springs staff to do what is right and I think we should all recognize that an offense like this should be taken care of differently at the college and pro level because of the maturity level of the athlete involved.
However, in this day an age, if a charge is made and some judge makes it stick, it is out of the hands of the school. Highly unlikely. But?
By the way, two plays before it looked like Blue Springs got very, very lucky on a pass interference call. If that call had been made, may have been a major change in the game.

It's the lack of consequence in this day and age that causes kids who behave like this to never change; why would they when they think it will only garner a slap on the wrist???
