Not parts. Get your minds outta the gutter.

It’ll never happen, but how about a roster from each private school. Next to each student is the geographic district they reside in. Next column is the amount of “financial aid” each student receives. Next column is what activities they participate in.

Thoughts? Maybe we can get the RFT on this one.

You’re right. It would never happen. Privacy laws, if nothing else.

I would like to do something like this for the public schools who never have a down year. The difference would be tracking where all of the players lived during 5th grade.

Call me crazy, but if folks want to up and actually move their residence, so be it. Seems a tad different than living in one district, and getting “financial aid” to attend a private school.

I am not saying anyone is doing anything wrong. I am more interested in how certain public schools never have a down year.

Example. A class 4 school has 2 straight classes come thru with no talent. They lose almost every game from 3rd to 6th grade. Other classes had lots of talent and won at the varsity level. How do you avoid awful high school years when those bad classes get to high school?

I agree that this would likely have some impact. However... there are many variables to consider.
Can kids improve? Grow? Get smarter? Mature? A coach or camp light a fire? Very talented surrounding classes? And, maybe, it"s the difference between a state title and 'only' a district championship if you have a strong program?
I'm not a coach... I've just had this discussion with folks in the past.
I know where you're coming from.

I look at Kurt Thompson. What did he do at WC that he could not even come close to replicating at Republic or Kickapoo?

Kids who were willing to work their ass off above and beyond what the coaching staff asked or needed. Parents who bought in and stayed out of the way. Administration that was truly supportive (don’t confuse high expectations with supportive). And a community were being a Cardinal is a tremendous source of pride.

Well having players like Mark Smith and Grant Wistrom doesn’t hurt. Kurt would be the first to tell you that. Still he got Kickapoo to a class 6 final four just s few years ago, right?

Webb's peewee football program fields 3 different teams in the 4 grades 3-6. That's 12 teams of kids getting a lot of time playing the game. With the talent being spread out, those teams don't do as well as they would if they were combined.
Look, there's no argument that private schools have an advantage, of course they do that's why there's a multiplier rule. That's how that advantage is mitigated to some degree. I think private schooling is really great for those that can take advantage of it. I guess we just get frustrated that the rules aren't the same for everyone.

This is TRUE.
And, it gives me hope that good programs will continue to have success over the talent cherry pickers out east. Long term success is about a whole lot more than one coach or one class.

WC has a great program and shows the advantage of having one high school and not having talent distributed among multiple schools. People complain about private schools but the biggest advantage in class 1 to 4 high is one town one school. Develop a sound system and feeder programs and get commitment and you can be successful. It will be hard for privates to consistently match this advantage.

I'd like to address this query, IF I may? Although not from your fine state! Colquitt Co. is a VERY public school, in a VERY rural county in DEEP South Georgia! TRUE, we have the greatest coach in America BUT! THAT is but a portion of the recipe for.......................ummmm, GREATNESS! Private schools don't show me CRAP! All you need is a decent coach, who has the ability to recruit the crap out of the universe! Now, in a PUBLIC school, you hafta have THESE ingredients by the bushel baskets full! And you can compete and WIN against ANYBODY!

WE have 450 persons in the Packer football booster club, that routinely raises some $400,000 per year through municipal donations, and fundraising events, such as our pot of gold golf tourney, and 'Rent a Hog', for odd jobs around your home! We have season ticket holders, who are members on four or five levels, with membership donations ranging from $150, to thousands!! We have a state of the art strength and conditioning program, fashioned from elements of schools such as FSU, Auburn, Georgia, Tenn., Alabama, Old Mississippi, Arkansas, Clemson, and Oregon! They emphasize not only strength and conditioning, but quickness, and agility to as well! THEN, there is the state of the art nutritional program, organized by Coach ProPst's wife, Stefnie! Since coming to HOG NATION, she has produced, through collaboration with the aforementioned universities, this state of the art nutritional program! These kids get fed four to five time per day, EVERYday, 365, with up to 5000 calories, to maintain tip top endurance! And as a result, the Packers haven't experienced a cramp, since the Hoover game, in 2013! IRONICALLY, THAT guy was Jaymius Pittman, who later started for the undefeated UCF Knights! And he is currently a DT for the Miami Dolphins! The nutritional program has what is affectionately known as the FIFTH QUARTER Cafe', housed in the athletic training/lockerroom/weight training facility! Adjacent to this, is the 72,000 sq. ft. indoor practice facility! The first such high school facility, on the East Coast! Adjacent to this, are the three practice fields!(One Sprinturf, two grass)
THEN lastly, but no doubt one of the most important components is! The sixteen coach coaching staff, and the 600 player feeder system, from grades 6-12! Each sub varsity team has least four coaches! And everyone runs the HOG AIR/HOG INFANTRY offense! THey are all equipped with IPADS and full screen sideline viewing for in game adjustments! We have a team videography crew, who films each practice, and each game! And breaks downs every component imaginable, to give our team whatever edge we can find! They have a pregame and post game radio show, and play by play radio crew on football Friday nights! In addition, we have an hour long PACKER REPORT, of the local TV station, that airs three times weekly. That gives a viewing of the previous week's game, and a scouting report for an upcoming opponent!

In short, we don't NEED NO STINKIN TRANSFERS! ANYWHO, good luck to you boys in the coming games, and coming seasons! Maybe your big privates will make that call to DOMINOS, in Moultrie, Georgia!:)

No one cares about Georgia. And no one is going to read the novel you just posted.

Webb and Lamar just had a down year what are you talking about??

I think you would understand if you were on the field at Webb with the team listening to Coach Roderique after the loss Saturday.

This year Webb ran out enough players that they played a Freshman game, 9/10 game, Jv game and varsity game almost every week. Getting the players valuable experience.
Camdenton always seemed to have that level of participation too. Always enough 9th and JV players to at least warrant extra quarters if nothing else. And it always shocked me how few 9th and JV players some of the bigger schools had. I can’t tell you how many times in my 10 yrs at Camdenton one of the Spfd schools had less than 20 kids for a 9th or JV game.

This is paramount if you ask me. Camdenton is pretty much the same. 3-4 teams in those grades for fall tackle. And at least that many per level in a K-6 flag league in the spring. Couple that with the consistency of the programs with coaching over multiple decades, and you’ve got a pretty good formula. And don’t downplay the support from the school and community. Without that, I’m not sure any of the other stuff would exist. It certainly takes a village.

This is not a down year. I am talking below .500 which almost all schools have from time to time.

We have no less than 8 other threads talking about very successful programs losing yesterday...
Programs.
Start there too.
A down year doesn't destroy a program.
I do not think "losing yesterday" constitutes a down year by anyone's standards. Can NOT win them all.

I'll give you Republic, but he was pretty solid at Kickapoo most years in his two stints there. Couple semifinal appearances at least. Neither school could be said to have a storied tradition in football though.
