Kearney has some good pieces, but can they stop the Staley running attack? Win this by a couple TDs and another finals run looks very likely.
Kearney, by 2 scores.
Just curious why people believe that Staley will win.
Past games have either been all Kearney or all Staley, depending on who was hot.
Doesn't get much hotter than 7-0, at Home, 6-3 overall head to head, Defending State Champions, Win Streak going back to the beginning of last year.
#1 Fans in Kearney
#23 Fans in Staley
The shouting match will be no contest...![]()
The game is going to be on 62...thus diminishing the liklihood of Staley high #s of fans showing up.

It might be better for Kearney if they lose. 5A football is down. Kearney is OK, they have played a weak schedule beaten up on teams that have no chance, If Kearney vs. Staley and PC turns into a win, I take a backseat in knowing good teams from average. HS football is unpredictable since we don't know who is out. This may be a relatively average year. You can be 7-0 and play 7 bad teams.Staley is #1 in rushing in KC. I saw them play BSS. Their special teams makes a lot of mistakes.
would be more accurate if every team posted stats, but still top tier at their positions.#2 Receiver in kc: Kearney's J Davis 681 yards, 17.9 avg. #2 Rusher Ross from Staley. 1338 yards. 7.9 avg.
The rivalry is back! Throw out records when these two hook up............some may have felt the two year absence would soften Staley's resolve but it did NOT. Kearney mauled them twice in 2013 and revenge was served tonight thanks to my preseason Simone winner Julian Ross and the Falcons just flat played with playoff intensity. Kearney for some reason did not but the aforementioned had a lot to do with that..............remember last year when Fort lost to LN and looked "vulnerable" before Coach Schartz turned Skylar Thompson loose? Tonight may be a preview of the Falcons making a very deep run in C5.
Hey Hat... I watched it on 62. Was Staley's line play as dominate in person as it was on TV ? For virtually the entire 2nd half, Staley had their way with them. Ross is a fine back, but he had a lot of help tonight. The rivalry is back! Yeah they were definitely focused like a laser beam.............losing does wonders for good teams. Hopefully Kearney will come out with the kind of energy Staley showed on both sides of the ball next week. Their loss to BS South was kinda expected. Chrisman was NOT.Hey Hat... I watched it on 62. I like Park Hill South's improvement but NO they won't beat the Staley team I saw tonight.Their QB looks like the three games he missed didn't matter. Ross is healthy and devestating. Play like this, and they get out of KC...maybe? Park Hill South. Oh, Liberty beat Truman 51-7. Didn't Truman almost beat Battle last week?
This is the Staley team everyone expected at the beginning of the season and maybe more.I like Park Hill South's improvement but NO they won't beat the Staley team I saw tonight.
That's correct. Preseason I thought it would be them and Liberty North. The Eagles have been decimated by injuries and inconsistent QB play and are out of the mix. No reason Staley cannot go all the way if they play like this. If they get that TE #87 consistently in their attack it won't be stopped by anyone, period. This is the Staley team everyone expected at the beginning of the season and maybe more.
Battle was probably, in all fairness, looking past them to this week's biggie vs. Jeff City but yes Truman pushed them to OT. After what happened in Independence have a feeling the close win over Belton and this loss won't look so bad on Kearney's resume the coming weeks.Their QB looks like the three games he missed didn't matter. Ross is healthy and devestating. Play like this, and they get out of KC...maybe? Park Hill South. Oh, Liberty beat Truman 51-7. Didn't Truman almost beat Battle last week?
Yea it took almost the whole season for Royalclone to make an anti-Kearney post...............wondering where you've been.............If Class 5 on west side is weak, doesn't bode well for Kearney. Anyone still looking forward to the Kearney-Webb rematch this year?
Good call.I'll say Kearney by 7. This game is a benchmark for them unlike any other. Belton shreded them with the run pretty good in that game.
I think I can very safely say Kearney won't face a team like that again this year. If Hannibal becomes #1 ranked this week that (sorry Pirates fans it is an observation not meant as an insult) says about all one needs to know about where C4 stands at this point.Though Staley is by far the superior team "this" year over Kearney, overall just 4-6.
No one is saying C5 does not have some good teams this year. Am saying however that an above average C4 team was only down 3-10 at half.
Staley would had been down by +21 at half against C6 Blue Springs.
When you can shellac Rockhurst by 40+ like Webb City did two years in a row, you can put a very large #1 by your name.

Maybe I get in trouble locally for posting but one of the big ones is offensive predictability. If we fans can predict what is coming............If Kearney gives up +30 to PC the way Staley did, the meal will have been cooked.
As of right now based on what I saw Friday night, Platte County would be the favorite going into the game.
Coaching only goes so far...

By the way Top...
If the issues we talked about do not get resolved by playoff time, I do not see us getting out of the third round....![]()
