St. Pius X at Seneca..thoughts??

Both teams on a roll, playing very well! I might be biased, but I am going with the Indians!

SPX wins the title.

Is Staley getting nailed from two fronts (Oak Park i.e. NKCSD realignment plus Pius)?

The entire Northland to some extent gives up bodies for St. Pius because 1) they have a kick-ass new facility and 2) coach Simone is a kick-ass coach. It is a great place to go to school and play football. So hard to track where everyone comes from or to know that. I'm thinking with proximity they probably hurt NKC, Tonka and Oak Park more than Staley. But I don't know. I do know one dad that has their kid at Piius that would go to Staley. Lives a block away.

Yep I got to witness the renovations on a daily basis and Simone has those kids out in great numbers and had a parking lot full last summer prepping for this now special season. Academics are top notch, too. Among lots and lots of fellow chemists one long ago co-worker from there really stood out. Absolutely brilliant scientific professional.

I noticed the game is at Seneca. Went there for Seneca vs. Springfield Catholic many moons ago. One of the greatest experiences in seeing high school football I ever had. Thomahawk Chop...Sea of Red. Town completely shut down. Shannon Crouch was nationally rated and getting D1 offers. Kick off. He blasted a TD...WOW

Pius benefits from being the cheaper option of all the private catholics across the metro. You've probably got some names on that team this year whose dads played at O'Hara. They're getting kids from all over, not just NKC.

that may be an advantage.

Realignment did not change Staley’s attendance area in any way. It only applied to the “other” schools in the district.
Truth of the matter is that they have experienced a drop off in overall talent. There has been a noticeable decline over the past couple of years. Most schools go thru it on occasion...

More truth is Staley is playing a schedule full of schools that are their equal in both population and socioeconomics. All of those teams are good too, and they just take turns beating each other, making them all look diminished when they really aren’t.

Pius is heavy on junior and sophomores. Alot of the same Italian last names on roster were there 20-25 years ago.
