as of today all hazelwood schools all public high schools in st. Louis city, Ritenour Riverview gardens, Jennings, Normandy, Affton, Brentwood Hancock
Bayless, Valley Park, is playing in the spring. Parkway schools to declare next week. Webster Groves Ladue will declare next week. Private schools in St. Louis
will also declare next week. 3 large schools in St. Charles County are shut down for a while due to outbreaks on their teams. St. Louis Health Department is allowing the few
teams left playing they can start practice Monday with all players wear a mask and only groups of 20. The health dept. is allowing no games until Oct. 1 at the earliest
and if the numbers of virus cases don't come down they will not let games be played. I have a very good friend who is an Athletic Director in a large school he keeps me
posted on a daily bases.

Yes life is different in metropolitan areas. It will change classes this fall. They're not having a spring state also?

Everyday the news looks worse for football in StL. I feel bad for the seniors, hopefully there will be football in the spring for them to get film

If that happens Fall Sports will be Mid March thru May 1 and Spring will be mid may through early July. With only 7 weeks on the "alternative" season, I would think that means there will be NO postseason

I’m having trouble buying that football will actually happen in the spring, despite what they currently say.
That's exactly what I think. Might be totally wrong but I think planning for spring is just delaying the decision to cancel. Hope I'm way wrong and conditions improve so much by then that health officials tell them it's cool to proceed.

I hope we’re both wrong. I’m predicting we’ll be revisiting this thread in a few months, though.
I have heard some positive things on the vaccine front in the last few days. Give me hope spring might actually happen, if fall fails. I am still being told 10/2 for STL, but the county went against the task force last week so who knows. Here is what i do know, Sam Page doesn't give a sht about high school football, or the opportunity it provides kids in the area.

My sister can't stand Sam Page. She has kids in the Rockwood school district and her two oldest play soccer for Rockwood Summit. She is pretty fed up with how he has handled everything.

My brother has a ten year old, eight year old and twin kindergarteners in the Rockwood district(Eureka)......Imagine that household throughout the week.....lol yikes

My sister is divorced and has 2 in high school, 3 in middle school and a 3rd grader. She teaches at a Catholic school that is in person. So it has been quite stressful for her.

Has anybody heard what CBC, Desmet, Kirkwood, St Louis University, Marquette, Lindbergh, and Lafayette(Wildwood) Parkway Schools, Chaminade, Vianney, Webster Groves plans are?

I think they’re entering the fray week 5. Everything is, of course, SNAFU. Some are having problems finding opponents, even for those few slots.
So some teams are playing now. Some are doing "fall" but not stating until more than halfway through the season. And some are deferring to the spring. What is the reasoning for doing fall but delayed? Are they banking on some drastic positive change in the situation over the next several weeks?

I think several are concerned the spring option isn't very doable. I have seen a lot of pushback, especially baseball that is adamant that pushing back spring sports until May-July will adversely effect their programs, especially seniors going off to college after graduation. Spring sports already lost one entire season, I believe the goal is to not disrupt a 2nd season. So far only St Louis schools aren't playing, everyone else is playing in some capacity.

I'm interested to see what MSHSAA is going to do if they don't play after they already set districts... can you imagine a two 8 team districts in class six and tow 2 team districts in class 6, hopefully it doesn't come to that though

The issue is what is thought of as St. Louis is 3 counties and a city. So STL county and city hope to play week 4, st Charles and jeff county have the ok to play. Sam Page is fn kids in the St. Louis county.

That's why MSHSAA isn't releasing class/district assignments until the 18th. I'd almost bet on it but I don't want to dip into my Budweiser fund.

I think they should just move football to spring. it's all confusing and we dont know how many more teams will move to spring. It sucks that we mostly have to listen to the games on radio or watch games online but can't go to games to watch what we love!!!!

After Saturday night we had 22 Class 6 teams played, 8 St Louis teams uncertain about and 2 Class 6 schools already move to spring. You can't move up 10 schools from class 5 to 6 to make 32 schools if them other 8 teams decide to move to spring. Shoot all of class 6 schools would be Kansas city schools

Who is this Sam Page fellow that keeps getting referenced? Is the issue with the schools doing fall but delayed that STL county health dept won't let them start? If so that answers my question as to why they are doing fall but still not playing.

Sam page is the county executive. There is a Stl county sports Covid group the recommended schools to move to more contact. Which would allow stl county schools to start probably week 2 The board is made up of doctors that advise the county exec. He overrode the board and it had delayed the schools. From the friends I have that are AD and coaches the board was pissed at page, like why have us if you aren’t going to listen to us.

Week 6 is when the STL county public schools plan to play. Apparently the private schools besides the Metro Catholic Conference want to start during week 3.

Gotcha. So maybe one of those cases where you've got a guy in a position that normally few people care about but suddenly he has the ability to flex muscle and control in ways never before possible.

Here it's just the opposite, you've got health dept directors etc calling for more restrictions - mainly masks and the city councils, etc mostly ignore the recommendations and act in a populist manner caving to the anti-mask ruffians.

There seems to be a push by some privates to play week 3, but who knows if that will happen. I guess they could rent a field in st Charles county and play.
Playinf week 5 as a new team against a team that has 4 games under its belt seems not ideal either, I just hope the seniors get some film if they want to play in college.

That, true, but I especially hope that senior that has busted his butt for years gets to play.

That guard who’s a fine asset to his team, but is only 5’11” and 220# and h knows this most likely is his last season to play.

This whole scenario sucks.
That’s a great point

I'm with you coach. Those were the kids that every successful team needs. They are realistic about not playing beyond high school and they work their tails off and are great role models and team leaders. They are there because they love the game and want to compete.
If you are lucky enough to stay in a small community where you coached, you get to see some of those guys on a regular basis out and about town. I'll never forget the first time one of them walked up with a youngster and said, "Coach, this is my son. He will be a freshman this year and he is a lot better than his old man was." After acknowledging the young man (and coping with the shock that I was that old already) I ask, "But will he work as hard as his dad worked?" That has become my stock question for all of my former players' sons.

i can't decide of St. Dominic is good, or is Christian that bad, and the same with Lutheran St chuck. Lutheran's offensive line is not great.

Christian's line on both sides is really not good, but St. Dominic has plenty of line depth and Gabe Serri is proving to be a decent quarterback. They won't fare well against teams who can hold their own in the trenches and have better team speed. I would say the Crusaders are a good team.

They may go far, especially when Stl county doesn’t have any teams for them to play.
