Not sure why they would. You can have 9 teams in 11-man.So will SJC drop out of the GRC?
Is the coop due to to numbers concerns for SJC football?Gallatin, South Harrison and Polo are similar to Pattonsburg, Worth County and Braymer. It’s the other 4 that are much longer. And most likely, they will only have 2 road games against them a year. Plus, they already play Putnam County, Milan and Trenton in Baseball.
There are many schools that have long bus trips to games.
I don’t know.Is the coop due to to numbers concerns for SJC football?
That is false. The co-op has already been approved.St. Joseph News-Press reported today that according to Jason West of MSHSAA, this proposed co-op is not yet on the agenda for the Jan. 29 Board of Directors meeting.
Well, the News-Press has been wrong before. But the story did quote West. That is false. The co-op has already been approved.
Slater is going 8-man?Other things that might be happening that along with this that may impact scheduling if the co-op ultimately happens:
1. LeBlond has been rumored to go 8-man. This would open up some games for Christian. I don't think they would want to play bigger MEC schools, but there may be a few games that open up from LeBlond moving down.
2. Polo may end up going 8-man in the next couple seasons. This would even out the divisions again in the GRC.
3. With the WEMO schools and Slater going 8-man, there may be some schools that have open games that Christian may be able to play next year.
A lot of unknowns at this time. Christian may have to go one year without playing a conference schedule. Of course, all of this is speculation at this time.
I was told Slater was going 8-man this year, so just assumed it was so. Don't know about LeBlond, but Lafayette AD posted in another thread that they were in search of a game for the week that they have LeBlond scheduled. Plus they had less than 20 returning players and when I talked to their AD, he said that that the freshman class was not expected to add much.Slater is not going 8 man for 2019, but I do think it's coming in the coming years. When is LeBlond going to decide about 8 man?

The COOP team (St. Joe Christian / KC Northland Christian). Since its 40+ minutes between the two schools.who?

Just a clarification since I have already seen this posted elsewhere. SJCS will not compete in GRC next season. They plan to compete in GRC after next season. It was too late to build a schedule for 2019 season to play GRC games.
