I saw on MSHSAA where SC is playing 2A Bishop Hogan and from what I understand they may even play more class 2 schools. Being a Class 5 team would they not be penalized for playing a school so much smaller than them? I guess they could play Warsaw, Knob Noster, Higginsville, and why not the Kaysinger schools?

No penalty for playing down a class

What about playing down 3 classes?

There is NO penalty for playing down, nor should there be.

If I was a Class 4 or 5 team I'd gladly schedule a Class 1 or 2 team that I know will win at least 7 games, because it will help my strength of schedule in district points.

And they are going to play the 3 Columbia schools plus the 3 Jefferson City schools as well. Probably Warrensburg as well. I know its always a bash Smith-Cotton fest for some weird reason. Demographically its just a rural town with a large population. They aren't a Jefferson City or Columbia or Kansas City suburb which is what their school population says they compete with. Their best schools comparison wise would be the old Mid-MO that they were in in the 90s with Rolla, Waynesville, and Lebanon and throw Camdenton in as well. But geographically is a lot of driving.
