Smallville at Platte County....who ya got?

Smithville beat Kearney, then beat them worse the second time. Platte County beat Smithville the first time, the second time is a coin flip. May the best team win.
Smithville blew a huge lead the first time against PC. Seeding aside Smithville is the clear favorite in this one.
Smithville has one championship title in the MEC. Last year that conference was physical. They played old school smash mouth with several of their opponents and only lost one conference game by 7 pts. Willard was on his way out of Chili and he wasn't about to lose a piece of conference in his final year. That was a good class 3 team.
Smithville changed their offensive style to fit the new conference because the offensive line was not as formidable as in 17, and went to punch and judy stuff. It's easier. Their battle-tested run defense returned. They might have caught up with passing wizards of Platte, but I think it'll be a good game.

Unless (given how senior heavy this team is this is very unlikely) they suffer a hangover Smithville will win by a LOT. I mistakenly left the PC game because the physical mismatch up front was almost embarrassing. If the Pirates can somehow scratch this one out kudos to them but count me a skeptic............
Early indication is that this will be the Spectrum Sports GOTW. Platte County no longer giving away fan suties for this week, saying it’s reserved for “live TV coverage.” Should be a good one.
Confirmed that it will be; will be announced in the next two days. They picked the right game this week.... it’ll be a good one.

It may be a good one. The atmosphere will definitely be hot. The weather will not and that could favor Smithville. Had to do some refreshing, however, and found PC has ousted them the past three years so psychology will favor the Pirates. I am likely heading to Staley gotta see CJ Price and NKC at least once this year.
What happened to Kearney.....How is WC going to improve our record against them if they can't get out of districts?

In all fairness don't be one bit surprised if you face Smithville in Columbia. That becomes far more likely if they survive Platte County Friday night.
I am just harassing Joey......I really don't wish ill on any high school team in any sport. Sports to me are about building character and learning to face adversity not state championships. I just like stirring the pot with him.Trying to move on................don't get me started.
Another year goes by with a losing record to Kearney. Must bother you that they have a winning record at your place. hahah 2-4 since 2002...dang, they have owned you when they make it there.
It's still kind of funny, but now it's starting to seem desperate. You should probably retire this talking point until next fall when it might regain some of its humor. Your choice though.

Looking like windy and 30s during this one Friday................now I like Smithville even more.
Kinda like the dad who never lost a race to his son, cuz he never raced him after he was 8 or 10 years old.
