Calpreps likes Platte County.

regular season (neutral field)
[2024] Platte County (Platte City, MO) 35 (84%), [2024] Smithville (MO) 20 (16%)

PC's schedule has been pretty soft this year. Gut check time for them. Will they live up to the hype?

More like they caught good programs (GV, FtO and Washburn Rural) at the right time. I think this could be a good game if SVille plays like they did against Oak Park in particular BUT they have obviously not faced a solid spread offense like this and nobody in the area has a QB like Marriott.

Maybe Platte County will fumble two times inside their own 30 like Oak Park did?

Haven’t seen PC play this season. I’d assume they are healthy across the board with the Tophat mention of their catching programs at off weeks. PC is always good even when down, they have run the same systems for almost 20 years and still do it well.

The Ville can stay discipline which I know is a calling card of their program. It can be a good game. Maybe a remake of the 2018 district final in the frozen wonderland. Clock control, running the ball, just hard nose D.

Two times I don't care for the spread PC runs, though: 1) adverse weather and 2) short range vs. a good D.

For SVille to pull this off, though, gonna have to show out better offensively than vs. Kearney or Oak Park to keep up with these PIrates. Been tempted to attend this one but want to see the alma mater in vs. their last good program until likely Week 12 vs. (drum roll).................

35-14 Platte County. Smithville has some great things like their lines and some skill players but they don't have X-factor level players and that makes the difference. The only thing that will make it closer - vastly superior line play and a few turnovers (like vs. Oak Park)
