SI Missouri Top 25 preseason.

Will we see Hannibal have a breakout year AFTER the all-everything RB leaves? Would be nowhere near the first time...................
Many top returning QBs this fall. Always very tricky to try to rank teams regardless of class, though. Not posting any title predictions until class/district assignments come out but already see the STL privates could have a bounce back title year after only getting one (C5 Ritter) last December.

More somewhat early notes: Glad to see them rank St. Pius X and Platte County as they did. Both should enjoy huge seasons but a smidge surprised not to see my other two Metro teams to watch Fort and Liberty ranked but can put only so many in a top 25 (would have had Rock unranked).

The alma mater at #7 seems a smidge lofty to me but time will tell. I really like Lutheran North in C4 unless they somehow do move up. Very glad to see the team where their QB transferred Parkway North get some ink that could be a real good darkhorse in either C4 or 5.

CBC is loaded with incentive but agree on DeSmet. A real good out of state benchmark for them and ranked Jackson will again be Edwardsville IL. We will get into lots of great inter-state matchups once the season gets here. MO-IL and MO-KS both really look outstanding in 2024.

i thought FO may crack top 25 then again i dont like ranking anything till after week 3, I think K may be very worthy of that 7 slot, I think Jackson may be a bit low with what they return on offense Rock has a lot to prove to be worthy of being ranked but maybe im wrong

Kelly and that all star staff have their work cut out for them this season. They open with what is essentially a pure no-pressure opportunity game for Pius. All the KS schools on their schedule are expected to be very strong this fall, too.

The Fort posters here covered it months ago for them it comes down to QB. Solve that rankings won't matter Fort will go very far................

I was worried about that for, oh, 0.000015 seconds.

McFarland on the hot seat, seems they already have his replacement waiting in the wings :)
What would he have to do to lose his job? If he didn't win a state title in 5 years but he won 3 districts would he be fired? They are in class 5 now so the standard may be different.

No. Mac is a great coach and kids are buying in more than the waining years of recent. A lot of the grandpa ball kids are quitting but the program needed them out.

As long as Ritter is in class 5 it will be difficult for anyone else anyway.

What’s your definition of a great coach??

Ryan may be a great guy I have never talked to the man. Only thing I know for sure is his coaching record is barely above .500 ( 45-42)

I won't be surprised at all if Carthage ends up top 10. Last year, they were one play from beating class 5 finalist Republic, 1 play from beating Nixa, and beat Webb City (had some big injuries in the Webb district game)...with something like 6 sophomores starting on D and basically all juniors on the offense other than a few OL. They'll have almost everyone back and will have one of the best defenses they've had, a huge DL, another year in the gym for the QB and RB, a large D1 tight end and a big OL. They just need to mail it in against Webb during the season so come district time, Webb won't have bulletin board material.

7 All-district players back. Strong senior class.

1. Cardinal Ritter Yes, a lot of juice. Deserve this spot.

2. Liberty North Most of their all-district players are back, including their most important player, Tillman Martin.

3. De Smet

4. CBC

5. Kearney Would make a strong run in Class 6 this year.

6. Liberty

7. Lee’s Summit North Only four all-district players returning. Not sold on this team.

8. .Lutheran North Questionable. Last year with their QB gone they could not beat Maryville. Well, he is at Parkway North now.

9. Blair Oaks

10. Nixa Yeah, with only four all-district players back. So what if they have Cantwell, this isn’t track?

11. Jackson

12. Parkway North New QB could push them over the edge.

13. Carthage

14. Webb

15. Platte County

DeSmet has a darned good returning QB, too. I like them pre-season in C6. Nixa needs to find a way to schedule a couple non-league games. Go down and play Fayetteville or Bentonville and either head to KC or the Lou for the other opponent.

Parkway North is a sexy darkhorse pick totally agree there. Locally I am moving more and more in St. Pius X's direction would love to attend the St. James Academy game I "think" this could be the year the Warriors win that one.

Not sure how, with all due respect, to put Kearney that lofty excellent as I agree they could be. Gotta see how the new QB and WR(s) work out but that RB won't stay under the radar long.

I am never a fan of teams in HC transition the first year so agree on LSN. There is some good depth in C6 in this metro watch Blue Springs South and perhaps Lee's Summit West make runs this fall.

SWMO folks seem to be latching onto Carthage. The returnees sure suggest a big run there albeit in the same class the Ritter all-stars are likely to be in.

Wish the COC had an open week or two for nonconference games. That is one thing I really like about the OMC and the Big 8.

Yeah I hope the OMC doesn't go above 9 teams. CJ should start playing Pittsburg in 2 years I think.

Just my $.02 for afar but, after witnessing last year's Nixa-Rock game in person, I really think the Eagles need a couple of big C6 or Arky 7A games outside their league which has been outstanding but not really the best prep for what they face from KC-STL.

Rock has so much turnover. They lose some massive talent. It is a big question mark what they come back with.
