Record, watch on demand, whatever it takes ... I watch the local stations through antenna and then with the ROKU, I can scan for games on YouTube and the MSHSAA.tv app.
I try to go attend a game every Friday, then come home, scan scores of games that interest me and then try to find them on demand on the MSHSAA.tv app. Then watch whatever I want across the state.
Tonight I will be watching at least two games, the Joplin/Webb game live on TV and then I'll mute the sound and watch the CJ/Carthage game at my leisure. Usually try to do my own stats off the video.
A part of me wishes the local TV stations -- and I understand KOAM/KFJX 14 are partners, same with KODE/KSNF -- could find a way to set a broadcast schedule before the season each station do a game every Friday night.
For example, they could broadcast the best possible game each week in the Joplin metro (Joplin, Webb City, Carl Junction) and then on the sister station do the best area game of the week and allow those programs some TV time. Seneca, Lamar, Jasper, Diamond, Neosho, Carthage, McDonald County, maybe even Mount Vernon, Monett, East Newton if the logistics allow.
I would imagine the biggest challenge is the logistics. Some of the stadiums simply don't have the space in the press box on Friday nights for a broadcast team nor the capabilities to support all the cameras and TV trucks needed for video production.
I will give a ton of credit to Webb City for its production crew of the CJ at Webb City game two weeks ago. Those kids did a great job with the cameras and video quality. The broadcast team was the Webb City radio crew and they've always done a professional job broadcasting (as long as you don't mind the occasional "we", "they" , "us" and "them" thrown in) so it worked out well. I think the interest is there, would be interesting to see if a station could make it work financially.
