Very disturbed to see that the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament is playing on Sunday, December 29 starting at 9 am. At risk of sounding like Ned Flanders, I don't think there should be games before 1 or 2 on Sundays. Thoughts?
To me the issue isn't religious. I just think school sports should leave Sunday alone.Wake me up when parents skip the travel team tournaments which ALL PLAY ON SUNDAY MORNING.
If there’s a consolation trophy to be won by the Super Select in the 6U bronze bracket of the USSSSSA World Series played in a cornfield in Soda Springs, Idaho, parents can’t write the $checks fast enough.
Spare me.
What about a a late eveing practice if you have a a monday game and you gave players off on Saturday? To me the issue isn't religious. I just think school sports should leave Sunday alone.

Practice isn't as bad as it doesn't involve travel and if a player misses once it isn't as big of a deal. What about a a late eveing practice if you have a a monday game and you gave players off on Saturday?
Most varsity girls teams practice on Sunday all season long.Practice isn't as bad as it doesn't involve travel and if a player misses once it isn't as big of a deal.

And that's the beauty of it. You can choose not to.I wouldn't sign up my team in any sport for a Sunday event. Didn't practice much on a Sunday or holiday unless it was something big, like state or playoffs.
Rack him!Perhaps I didn’t make myself clear: There’s ample evidence Parents don’t give a SH!T about playing on Sunday mornings unless they’re just in the mood to b!tch and complain and have run out of things to complain about.
If parents were legitimately concerned about playing athletic contests on Sunday mornings, every travel team tournament director in every sport would be out of business.
Instead, it is more popular than ever — in literally every sport imaginable.
I fundamentally do not believe there are any parents of a modern high school athlete who at some point has not taken their kid to participate in a travel team tournament of some sort that played Sunday games.
It’s rather hypocritical to be fine with helping put money in someone’s pocket to compete in a contest that represents nothing but your own vanity — but draw the line at high school games.
A position to miss church? Stay home and pray. Pray on the bus. No decision should ever be made due to “church.” You can still choose to attend. To clarify, I am not a parent, but a teacher who works as a scorekeeper and journalist with a high school team. I do have an issue with travel games on Sundays, too, but I feel that schools should not put families in a position to miss church for those that choose to attend. The fact that we are talking December 29 means that many churches will be cancelling non-traditional worship times that weekend.
So if a player chooses to attend church instead of the game is that ok with you? There are still some families that don't miss church and/or don't do things on Sundays. I think it is up to each community or school to know their community and make decisions for their school accordingly.A position to miss church? Stay home and pray. Pray on the bus. I think that is the perfect viewpoint. I can understand events and practices after 2 or 3 pm on Sunday, especially during the spring when baseball teams may play at Busch Stadium, for example, or if weather postpones district or state tournament games. It just doesn't seem like regular-season games need to be played on Sunday morning, particularly when there is plenty of time available in schools' Christmas vacations.I don't think there should be any HS games or practices on Sunday mornings. I am fine with things on Sunday afternoon and evening. But as with most things opinions vary. It is indeed up to each family and each School to do what is best for their situation.
Yes. All decisions are up to the family. What about Wednesday night games? Saturday games? So if a player chooses to attend church instead of the game is that ok with you?
