Schumer called it bipartisan Saturday Night

Case by case isn't the sort of thing you can legislate in 24 hours. You're looking for blanket actions right now. And you're looking for actions with the most immediate impact. Loan forgiveness is a much weaker impact than directly putting cash in someone's hands.

I am in complete agreement, and I hate government hand outs. I just cannot stand the idea of this loan 'forgiveness'. That forgiveness is going to be passed on to someone else who can pay.

Can someone explain to me why either side (republican or democrat - in this instance democrats) would be trying to sneak in extras on this bill though. I have come to the conclusion that we need to enact Article 5 of the Constitution and have a convention of states in order to draft amendments on balanced budgets and trimming down the size of the federal government.

The Federal Government ordered the shutdown.

This downturn in the economy had nothing to do with policy. Prior to Covid-19 the economy was thriving, and to say anything otherwise is a blatant lie.

You can't blame an act of God on Trump although I'm sure you'd like to.[/QUO

I agree, but the response will fall at the Administration's feet and their first response was to delay and deflect. Not to mention lie! You can not hide from statements like there are 15 cases now and within a week it will be down to 2. This thing is contained, we have this thing under control. You can go to work. The list is never ending. Every time he gets up and talks to the American people he lies and blames. Starts out with bluster, goes to his minions who thank him for his great leadership and ends with his pity party

"This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure society to our vision" You used to be able to hide your lies in the 3 station media. Now we see you.

I mean, you could have a convention, but nothing would pass like you want here. And there are basically no economics experts who would actually vouch for a balanced budget amendment. The current pandemic is a textbook example of why it's really bad policy. The Federal government is the lender and spender of last resort. It needs to be able to run deficits in times of crisis. The issue is that we spent the Reagan, Bush II, and Trump years expanding the deficit during times when the economy was humming.

How could legislation for the Stimulus Bill go any worse after Pelosi pulled what she did?
I think you're probably a good guy but not paying attention to how this unfolded. Perhaps you are assuming professionalism is a given? I don't get it.

Not paying attention. I guess you were ok when Moscow Mitch sent the Senators home for a long weekend when the House passed a bill and had to wait for the Senate to reconvene. I did pay attention and this is how bills are made. The group in power puts all their desires in it and group not in power try to bring it back in line. I for one am glad the 500 billion dollars to corporate welfare will have some over sight, I like the extended unemployment benefits. Not everybody likes trickle down economics

I guess if you call predicting full churches by Easter adjusting. Toooooooooooo Easy

Love optimistic approach if it has an ounce of truth in it. Goes back to this thing is under beautiful control and there are 15 cases now and will be down to 2 in a week. I know you want to believe what your king tells you but I prefer to listen to what my eyes and ears see and hear.

The Pelosi crowd torpedoed legislation. You are not worth my time.

It's optimistic speculation. There's NOTHING wrong with that.

There was going to be additional spending already. She held it up for no reason. Not only that her Bill was written in the dumbest possible way.

Bud, if the Rs really cared about what Pelosi was doing and felt she were being unreasonable, they wouldn't have a deal with her right now. You're falling for their twitter rhetoric. The real stuff happened behind closed doors, and it appears the Rs and Ds both acted rather professionally. They agreed upon a giant piece of legislation in ~48 hours!

They negotiated in private and pandered in public and you fell for it.

There was a proposal put together by the White House and Senate Rs as of Sunday night/Monday morning. The House had its own proposal. Of course they weren't going to literally say yes to what the Rs wanted, nor was Trump going to magically take what Nancy wanted. They both rolled up their sleeves and made a deal. DJT/Mnuchin/Mitch/Schumer/Pelosi got it done together.

I don't understand ranting and raving about killing a bill or something when it's Wednesday and, by all accounts, there's a deal that would pass if it showed up for a vote in both houses of Congress today.
