in the 3Rivers Thanksgiving Tournament tonight and his name is Always Wright. Good player, had over 30 points against NE Mississippi tonight.

From Carthage but went to Joplin high school. Yes, he can really play and will probably find a home at some D1 school after NEO. Also has a younger brother playing at Joplin with multiple D1 offers.

From Carthage lol. The irony is his father's decision to send him to Joplin cost his son a football state title at least. Carthage wouldn't have lost to Webb last year with him. Also, Carthage would have been better with Wright last year in basketball than Joplin was.

Lists Carthage on the game program for the tourney but some in our crowd did say he is from Joplin.

His younger brother, All, is an even better player. His dad, Joe, played for Carthage, and later played D1 at Kansas State.

His Uncle Felix played in the CFL, and later in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns. Another uncle, Charlie, just missed out on the NFL being one of the last 5 players cut for the Cardinals I believe two separate years. A very athletic family.

Both are very nice players. “All” has higher end athleticism and in the gym range. “Always” will most likely play D1 after a year at NEO. Hard to say if Carthage or Joplin had the better supporting cast.
Hindsight is 20/20. Carthage was all guards and shooters, which is what All and Always are… so one could say that since there is only 1 basketball to go around, they were better off playing with the athletes at Joplin, the size and athleticism of that supporting cast might have been a better fit, especially if the 6’7 Hafer kid had been healthy last year.
But it would have been fun to see them at Carthage… would have been been 5 guards that could All shoot and attack.

Carthage lost to Joplin by one point and had Nixa on the ropes until the end of the 4th. They would've won both games with the Wrights. They're both taller than everyone on Carthage's team which would've helped even with them being guards. And yes, had Always been Carthage's qb last year, he would've had 2 state titles.

Especially considering the Carthage QB had his worst game of the year against Webb in the district title game even though he played well in the first game.

Everytime I read something about these kids I find myself frustrated that their parents went that route with their names and not First name: Hoss, Middle Name: Cart

Hoss Cart Wright. Now that's a name.
We were talking about them at the games last night. We thought they should have two more named Never and Just. :p
