Two good teams are squaring off tonight at Kickapoo. Rolla 22-1 Versus Kickapoo 21-2.
The winner will be in the drivers seat to win the conference. Good luck Bulldogs!!!

Not only will this game most likely determine the conference championship, it will provide great momentum as we roll into districts.

From what I heard the Rolla Bulldogs are loading up two fan buses and bring them down to the Poo. Should be a packed house and a great game.

The atmosphere will be second to none! Student section for Rolla will be in full force I am sure. They put on a great show at the Helias game. As far as the game, do not see Rolla being able to keep up with the Chiefs unfortunately..

Not sure how many Rolla fans will make the trip but I hope it is a lot! Should be a great atmosphere which makes it fun for both teams! The Louder the better at a good game!

Ru, Keep us posted on this game of interest. This could be a long-long-long ride back to Rolla tonight. Rolla and the Poo mostly likely will be playing in the final four this year but will play an under dog role.

Rolla is in the same conference as Kickapoo?

Rolla will bring a lot. They filled their half of the gym at Helias. Expecting to be the same at the Poo.

If you can't make it out to the game tonight between Kickapoo and Rolla, it'll be broadcast LIVE on http://citylinktv.com/channel/kickapoo-chiefs/ I'd say the varsity should start about 7:00-7:30ish.

A great show at Helias? It went a little overboard in my opinion. Yes, they were strong in numbers and loud, but Helias would never get away with doing some of the things the student section were doing. First of all, would not want to see it from our students and secondly, administration would not allow it.

OMG.... the perfect catholic kids do nothing wrong! They done far worse than the Rolla kids have done. Playing Blair Oaks they dressed as "Hick night" making fun of their counter parts! Then preceeded to chant..... Start the tractors at the end of the game!

Were you at the game? If you want to call it hick night, that is fine. Should they have said start the bus, the truck, the car? It was in the theme of the night. No they are not perfect, but comment only if you were at the Rolla game. Different when for every free throw, Rolla would yell! Great Sportsmanship!

Why bring Catholic into the discussion! Already bias in your comment.

Yes I was at the game and even the parents of the kids from Helias thought it was a little over board being hick night when Blair Oaks came to town. The "hick night" came straight from Helias students mouth! Personally, I thought it was funny, but it is all mighty do gooders like yourself that ruin things. A little over board is when the principal at Helias has to continue to stop the chants of Helias student section from occurring often. Which was occurred quite often! Again, personally I thought both student sections were very good and brought a lot of energy to the game, as it should be in a big game. Take that and multiply it by 20 if they get to have the re match in the district finals. Good luck to both teams. FB I just hope you bring your ear plugs so you will not have to hear either student section.

I agree with Hangman, I was at the game as well and I enjoyed the environment!! Kids yelling during free throws is the norm, not just bad sportsmanship from Rolla?? I have not been to many big games where no one yelled during free throws. The big game environment is fun for all, do kids say things they shouldn't? Of course and that is why the administrators job is hard at ball games. Let the kids have fun and enjoy the game don't sit and think of reasons to bash students. Support your team and let the administrators keep things in line. I personally think that louder is a better environment for the players and fans, let the students have school pride and enjoy the moment!

I for one enjoy the rowdy student sections, home or away. I don't even mind the harsh chants. Ads to home court advantage.
I agree! The Kickapoo game was lots of fun even though we ended up on the losing side of things.

Personally never minded the yelling during free throws. In fact, I thrived on it. Making the free throws was a good way of saying, "In your face!" without even interacting with the crowd. We make such a big deal about stupid little things these days. Also, I enjoy the student antics and enthusiasm even though I realize administration must draw the line at out right vulgarity or any unsafe conduct.

Glendale Vs. Rolla tomorrow night at Falcon Court. Falcons lead the series 32-4, but are in danger of losing to Rolla in back-to-back seasons for the first time ever. I hope "The Flock" shows up and supports the team. We haven't won a game this year in which the students have come out in large numbers (Kickapoo, Nixa, Ozark), which can allows hurt future crowds. Glendale is 207-45 all-time against the non-SPS members of the OC. http://glendalebasketball.weebly.com/ozark-conf-teams.html

Whatever happened watching and cheering for the players? I guess it's better to intimidate and make fun of players. Thus causing problems after the game.

Intimidated? I never felt intimidated by anyone on or off the court. Now, made fun of and harassed, that's a different story. And I loved it. It just fueled my fire. Now you tell me, what ever happened to just accepting it for what is; i.e., a student body or fans trying to gain an advantage for their team.
My opinion is that some wimpa$$ has convinced them that the other side is not being politically correct by attempting to "intimidate and make fun of them". As for problems after the game; coaches, cheer coaches, parents and administrators should emphasize and the players and student body should know that it is a game played for fun, sport and amusement and one team will be gratified and one won't and feelings will be high but when it is over it is over until next time and that NO ONE owes them political correctness. The only thing either team deserves and has a right to expect is that the contest be administered fairly and within the rules on the field/court.

Johal had 37 last night - 920 for his career - will probably get to 1,000 with at least three games left this season
- First win ever for Rolla at Glendale (had been 0-16)
- First ever back-to-back losses to Rolla in program history
- Gave up 96 - 4th most ever (added to the 94 we gave up to Ozark last month, which used to be the 4th most ever)
http://glendalebasketball.weebly.com/varsity-15-16.html

Having a son that plays for Rolla I can tell you that the things he hears from the other student sections we have played against are far worse than someone screaming during a FT. The losing parents always complain about 1) the refs and 2) the student section.

During the Helias & Rolla game, each student section cheered for the other one when there were good chants. In such a case, the very vocal Rolla 6th Man chanted "We Cant Hear You" to the Rackers Rowdies which is pretty brave when you are on the road. The Rowdies immediately responded with "We Can't See You" in reference to the Rolla section wearing Camo as their theme! The Rolla section clapped and cheered at the response. I'm guessing FB Junkie missed that show of respect.

Another chant that was fun was Rolla's student section chanting "Daddy's Money" to the obvious reference of privilege being at a private school. Helias responded with "You are Cousins" which is obvious a continued theme of being a red neck and less privileged. Now, we could have been all sensitive and sad and maybe cried or sent off a letter complaining...but no, our student section and parents laughed it off as "kids will be kids." Again, FB Junkie, I think you missed that one as well.

If you would like the specific names or gender persuasions or animal relationship preferences that my son has been this year by student sections, I would be happy to provide a list to any and all who are complaining about students cheering to loudly or at inappropriate times. He is not scarred by this... he is still able to get up early the day after the game and go cut wood so that he can have spending money or feed his cows to show that he has responsibility instead of having him mommy and daddy hand him money and make sure he is sheltered.

Rarely will I get caught up in posting something other than to supply an answer to a question, but I thought it might be appropriate to make sure people realize that kids are playing a game. There is a lot of pressure in those games coming from a lot of directions and they need to be ready to handle those pressure points. Because eventually, they will have to make their own way in life and those pressure points are still there in a larger quantity and intensity and it is our job as parents to help them prepare to handle those situations - not prevent them from ever occuring.

That was a TON of offense on display last night...I'm thinking the two teams didn't work much on Defense that week!

Glendale has a really nice team with the sophomores getting most of the attention, there is also great ball movement to find the open shooter. JV has some really nice players as well. Future is really bright for Glendale.

While Rolla will have moments of cold shooting (like all teams) it is compounded when their Defense takes a break. I think what has surprised most people about Rolla is the toughness they show to battle back when they get down. Good shooting can hide a multitude of sins!

My heart wants to believe you, but my head and gut tell you're wrong. I heard similar remarks about the '09-'12 group and they underachieved, then the same about our frosh team in 2012 and only a few were left by last year (some weren't even attending the school anymore). We've got nothing in the post for the next two years (and I don't think any size is coming in from Hickory or Pershing - so you can push that to the next four years). You can't play basketball with one or two players and that's all we're going to have between the end of this season and the start of the '18-'19 season. People talk about "move-ins" well, that NEVER works at good ole GHS. We'll be disappointing and underachieving, just like the last 53 years. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. I guess I'll just sit back and watch Johal break a bunch of scoring records, but individual achievements don't do much for me. I'm a TEAM person and it's going to be (and already has been) a tough few years.

My sense is that this Glendale team is inconsistent because it is a poor defensive team. That surprises me because some of the recent teams have been very solid defensively, while they were patient on offense until they got an excellent shot (usually a layup). I don't know if the poor defense this year is due to lack of effort or lack of athleticism, maybe some of both. I still think they are dangerous because if Johal and Walton are both hot they will score plenty of points. They will have a tough time, though, getting past a team like Bolivar who has a skilled big.
