Really stupid to not play because of a single positive test when you have a roster the size of Rockhurst
Agree. Unless a bunch of players have to go into quarantine as well I don’t see why Rockhurst can’t play.

No doubt. Hard to believe they would cancel the game because of one positive case. I guess I get it, because unlike the pros, they're not all wearing tracking devices that show who they were around and for how long. Half the team could potentially be exposed.
I'm a Joplin fan, but I hate to see this. I really feel for the Rockhurst team. It would suck to work so hard all season only to have it end this way.

Now we see an entire favored football team on the state’s highest level having to literally give up without getting to try. And we all see how bad this feels. And it’s not nearly on the scale of somebody having to close their business and lose their income.
To get to my real point, should this team really have to shut down because of one positive case? What a shame.

Well if you ask Webb City fans, if Rockhurst has 11players not sick they could play the game and Rockhurst is just dodging Joplin!!! 🙄
Ridiculous. As good a chance as any C6 team to make it out of the western half. I would not want to be that kid in school. MSHSAA knew this was going to happen, and they knew it back in August. Still surprised they went forth with the playoffs.

Are schools required to announce a COVID case as soon as they get a positive test result? If not, would you hold out until say Thursday or Friday? What if Joplin has a confirmed case tomorrow? Had Rockhurst waited, could they have advanced? Or does it become a double-forfeit?
Or now that Joplin has been declared the “winner”, do they get to play in the district semis even if they have their own single positive case tomorrow?

Obviously for most 15-18 year olds, no the world wouldn't end. Heck many of them don't even know that they have/had it. Same for many of the 22-50 year old coaches. Obviously the point is passing it on to the older population or those with health issues. I am sure by now almost everyone has known someone, or knows someone who knows someone, who has died or been extremely sick from it.

World wide that is correct. Now you are including "complications". Stop acting like this is some "end of the World virus". It is nowhere near that UNLESS you are over 80. A little common sense goes a long way and HERD IMMUNITY (this is the Planetary virus i.e. EVERYONE will eventually be exposed) is the answer not HIDING from it.
