I hope this works, if for no other reasons, that it keeps umpires on their toes and to keep them from “getting even” with a player who, in their mind, showed them up.

That might be the biggest plus out of this. They have some umps who definitely do that.

I'm guessing Greg Maddux probably wouldn't be an advocate for robots.

As an umpire...I'm totally fine with it. If you have an argument, go argue with a computer or technician. If you throw a fit and argue, simple ejection.

Guess so, they will still be using real people to make the calls. I have no idea why you guys want to screw up a game that's been doing quite well for a 100 years.

I don’t see it as messing it up ... making it better.

How is improving accuracy messing up a game? Letting morons like Angel Hernandez call balls and strikes is more damaging than using a robot...IMHO.

I just love it when a catcher sets up on the outside corner and because the pitcher misses his target the ump calls a pitch down the middle a ball, how about you 3R? I wouldn’t want to mess that up with a silly robot.

it takes a lot of pressure off the umpires. A lot of umpires fear it takes away some of the art and beauty of the game (and skill by the umpires). As for me, I want to get all the calls right and be a non-factor in the game. So, I'm hoping it works its way down to the college ranks...but the tech is probably super expensive...so I won't be doing that for quite a while.

I just don't know how the game has survived for over a hundred years without all this tech stuff. I don't recall anybody telling me how many times they saw the replay guys in NY look at a play for 5 minutes and still get it wrong. I do know we used have a lot of 2 1/2 hour games.
