After doing some digging on MSHSAA's website it looks like removing the success factor cap which is currently set at 2 classes was approved as an agenda item on the January 15th MSHSAA Board meeting to be taken to the district area meetings. The last of the district area meetings is set for February 7th. The next MSHAA Board of Directors meeting is set for February 12-13 2025 so I would assume we might here some more on the topic from the press release they typically give after the meeting. Looking forward to hearing more on this. Personally I think removing the cap is a good idea.

I wonder if promotion/relegation for all schools could work.

Remove it if they separate privates from public. This is more crap that makes me think it's time to change mshsaa.
I am all for separation like several other states already have, but without change to MSHSAA (all for it) I think removing the cap on the success factor is the next closest thing to get one step closer to evening the playing field. The other thing is it essentially is a pretty small change on MSHSAA's end which we all know they like to do as little as possible. Essentially they just have to redistribute the teams in each class with this now factored in. They already do this every year anyway in football so it wouldn't take much effort on MSHSAA's end.

How does removing the success factor level playing field. If a public school has success I can see getting rid of that but a private school can bring in people from all over. So your telling me St Pius has been has been training their kids since 7th grade.

They just worked harder

Using the last few years for example, Cardinal Ritter who has won multiple state championships at Class 5 who is currently capped out under current rules would now get bumped to Class 6 and be forced to play the CBC's, Blue Springs etc. of the state instead of rolling over every single class 5 opponent they played with a hand selected roster of Illinois and Missouri kids. At least until there kids all transfer out and go to Lutheran North or elsewhere. Would not effect privates that much that are not completely dominate and have the success factor points racked up. But in my opinion if your a school that claims to have that much talent on their team then you should be playing the biggest and best schools in the state besides yourself.

Cardinal Ritter has only won two state championships in football. One in class 5 and one in class 3. I do agree until they separate Private and Public there should be no cap on how many time you move up.

Fair enough. I was just using them as an example. None the less. It shouldn't effect teams that aren't consistently very successful. If a team is able to be dominate in at their current classification because of recruiting then they should be moved up. Regardless of sport.

You can't move IWA up far enough.

Split public and private.

I get it. To be honest I was surprised they had only won two championships with the about of D1 players that have went through their the last 5 years

Same thing that happened to St. Mary's, Cardinal Ritter and I believe from what I have heard is currently happening to Lutheran North. They go on a highly successful recruiting run. Win a chip or a few, then the coach leaves, the players jump ship to the next recruitment site and the process starts over.
