At a border crossing in Texas, one day this week had 5,000 enter the US seeking asylum. Biden is granting nearly a half million Venezuelans temporary amnesty to allow them to find jobs, who will scatter with many to remain here and get lost in the shuffle.

Politically, Biden has to do something to stem the tide. You can bet come election time, immigration will be at the forefront of the GOP candidates, just as it is every four years, and rightly so. Biden's handling of the border will cost him votes in '24 if he doesn't stall the new record wave.

Even if it's the same way Trump counts his audience size, it's a helluva lot of people we are spending money on for everything involved like housing, food, and medical attention. The bill goes on and on and we are paying for it all.

Yeah Reagan gave amnesty to illegals already here AND promised to close the door for illegals thereafter. We never closed the door.

I think that's our only solution today. We are never going to start rounding up 15+ million people already here and deport them. Give them amnesty if they have no criminal record and make sure we close the door this time.

Ridiculous solution that would never work: Open the border. Charge non-citizens twice the tax burden until they become official citizens. If businesses aren't going to get in trouble for employing these folks, they'll likely deduct taxes and stop paying as much under the table.

Mayor Adams of NYC said the migrant crisis "Will Destroy New York City". Didn't take long for that tune to change from the sanctuary city status to we can't handle the influx of migrants. Doesn't bode well for them that somewhere around 40% are from Venezuela. Sounds like a large voting block who know the evils of socialism (democratic socialism or not) and should begin to see some independent or conservative victories once they are all given drivers license and allowed to vote. They won't be as easy to fool as the sheep who follow lock and step with the new dem party. Please refrain from telling me that people also blindly follow trump. At this point we can all agree there's a percentage of people who just follow orders no matter what they are. That shows just how bad this crisis is getting if one of the top dem mayors is admitting how bad it is getting and all NYC got was a few busloads of migrants compliments of Abbot.

40 people per bus would only take 325 bus loads to make it happen. My research indicates 11 buses travel from dallas to new york city a day so that many people were already taking bus trips to New York a month. That would be less than one extra trip a day. I should have been more specific that it was only one extra bus a day.

But that requires Kevin McCarthy's house to pass a spending bill with money in there for that.

I have never claimed to see both sides equally.
If it was such a problem then the Republicans would have helped out then. I don't remember many bipartisan bills then. And saying Harris was in control of the Senate is a reach. The oil and coal lobby was in charge of Manchin, who was in charge of the Senate.

I assume you know that screenshot was from a 2019 vote when the dems controlled the house and the dems could not get the 4 squad members to agree the bill it was so bad? Those were the 4 no votes by democrats. There aren't currently 231 dems in the house. Do you just like taking someones screenshot as something recent and passing it along as relevant?. That bill was also what continued to let people flow across the boarder. Do a little research before passing that weak argument from 4 years ago on us.

Socialism isn't a strongman in charge of the government making all the decisions. That is a monarchy, no matter what they choose to call it. Much like the USSR under Stalin, et al.

Socialism is not a strongman - agreed. But in the history of the world socialist governments almost always end in one person or party taking power and suppressing all others to keep that power. People who flee socialist systems do so because they know the problems that arise under that type of regime and escape to america to be free from it. I am not sure I follow how communism under stalin relates to people rejecting socialism in venezuela and therefor rejecting similar hard left socialist policies once they move to New York but maybe you could help me see the light by elaborating a little more on what you mean.

It doesn't matter when it was from the point is the Republicans don't want to pass a border bill. If they did they would pass anything that fixed it a little bit. That isn't what they want. They want to take advantage of there not being any laws passed so they can whine and cry.

Communism is socialism taken to the extreme…(except it was really a monarchy). That’s the only reason I mention it. And it was literally in the name of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Real communism means there is no “state,” only “the people” running things. It’s utopian, thus unrealistic.
