POLL on Missouri Scoop regarding new classifications for Missouri HS football...

Seeding the playoffs is dumb. The private school thing is pretty dumb. The 2 divisions in 8 man and the going back to 5 classes are alright.

The whole catch with a system like that is the "ranking-strength of schedule." Too many variables that would eventually generate dumb outcomes using subjective categories like that--prove it on the field.

The Private school line makes no sense? Privates have their own on this poll?

I had to reread it myself. Guessing if they are going down to just 5 classes then it would make sense for the privates to be in 3 or 5. If not, sounds like someone was on drugs when they twitted this.

Three through five?

I read it as either they are in 3 or 5. So sounds like someone doesnt want competition in Class 4.
That makes ZERO sense.

Very simple. Keep things as is...drop week one of playoffs and only take top 4 from each District.

didn't I get blasted for suggestion something similar to that?

Personal I think mshsaa should go to 7 balanced classes for football. right now that would be 44 to 45 per class, Championship factor adjusted to being bumped of 3 classes instead of 2.

Keep districts the same as they would then have 5-6 teams, eliminating the 1v8 and 2v7 matchups. The only other change is to reseed after districts.

AS far as the public vs private school debate goes, Go to open enrollment and end the transfer rules. Why are we so hell bent on kids trying to improve their situations.

I like open enrollment...give kids a chance to see what recruiting visits are like for college.

Jimmy the 8th grader: "I'm doing my official visit to Rockhurst this weekend. Next week Smithville. And then a mid-week visit to Fort."

Then, it'll evolve into local TV coverage of "The Decision." Which hat will he pick?
"I choose to take my talents to.....(grabs Rockhurst hat, sets it down, picks up the Smithville hat, tries it on, takes it off, picks up the Fort O hat, throws it to the side and pulls a Lee's Summit North hat out from under the table).

These open enrollment supporters will be asked to finance the helicopters used to commute to and from school, I assume.

Do you just constantly live in make believe land?
Are you really this dumb? The point was a kid living in a rural community ain’t going to have a zillion choices of what schools to attend unless they want to commute a long arse way. Duh.

So we can’t do it because 3% might not be able to? Solid argument.

Missouri population breakdown

So all rural schools are so spread out that no-one could attend another school?

North Shelby is too far from South Shelby? Clopton from Louisiana? What about all the schools that surround Maryville?

Being defined as "rural" doesn't make it unmanageable. 97% of students are within 20-25 miles of 2-3 high schools.

Begin in rural areas is also a ridiculous argument as its under the assumption that urban all have transportation as well

You made the moronic statement of 3% (without qualifiers). Is South Shelby (who according to you among others want to leave the CCC) really a step above North Shelby? Clopton above Louisiana? Please tell me you can rub enough brain cells together to understand the disparity between rural situations vs urban ones.

Oh so we are going to shift the argument to that? You probably need to worry about your brains cells and not mine?

The major problem with rural is they would rather hold on to their “identity” instead of providing the best possible education.

Having grown up on a reservation, spent HS in an Urban area and now live in rural (at least according to your map). I’d say questioning my understanding is ignorant on your part.

I see nothing wrong with open enrollment but it should not be the wild west. I could see where a child should be able to attend a school if School B offers something thier current school doesn't and the boundary's border each other. Why shouldn't a child get to attend a school that offers say Soccer or speech and debate band Art. You should be able to better your kids education. So many are worried about sports but never think about how it could improve a Childs educational opportunities. And not every parent can afford to pay tuition but might just work in that town so it makes sense for them and thier family. Locking families to a school because the house they purchased is in a certain area is just archaic in this day and age. But again I don't think you should be able to just jump six districts over either. But it might help schools try to better themselves and offer more.
