Enough with the protests. The pulling down of statues. BLM (of course they matter). Covid. Etc.

Match policy for policy. Let’s debate it out. Who is better for the country and why?

I have a sneaking suspicion no one on the left is going to be interested in this discussion.

What if most really don't wholly agree with either for the most part. I think most would find they are someplace in the middle.

That is my problem I don't like all the Pub policy nor do I care for the Dems.

Example. immigration and borders, I don't believe we should have free and open borders, do necessarily want a big beautiful wall from one end to the other, probable not. But I want it secured so that we know who is crossing and when. As for those 11 million illegal immigrants here today, I think we need some type of pathway for them to be able to become citizen's, for those who would qualify. But if we do that we cannot continue to let millions illegally cross our borders. I don't know why both sides cannot come up with a solution that works for both.

it would have to be a discussion, and today more people are interested in talking over the other side rather than listening.

I watched the video of Andrea Mitchell getting attacked, she wondered were the police were at that time while reporting on police violence and the protest. And the guy who tried to grab her was screaming don't grab me when they pushed him away??? What the hell....all the hypocrisy that is in that short one minute video amazes me.

Personally I fall in line with mostly Libertarian Policy.

  • End the federal income tax and with it the IRS; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • Balance the federal budget now – then keep cutting more!
  • Cut federal spending to the level of 1998 – which enables us to both end the federal income (replacing it with nothing) and immediately balance the budget.
  • End the federal corporate income tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • Fully privatize Social Security and repeal the FICA tax; sell federal assets to create private retirement accounts (i.e., no government control or involvement) for seniors who paid into Social Security and who are dependent upon it.
  • End the failed Drug Prohibition.
  • End programs that supply military-grade equipment to local law enforcement.
  • Abolish the Federal Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Abolish the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
  • Repeal the Patriot Act, National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and any other law that violates Americans’ privacy or constitutional rights.
  • Close overseas U.S. military bases and bring troops home.
  • Close half of all domestic U.S. military bases and cut spending.
  • Cancel contracts for fighter planes, ships, and other unneeded military equipment.
  • End the Federal Reserve.
  • Defund and repeal Obamacare – and replace it with nothing. Extract government from the health care industry, ending the damage it does. Expand health freedom, which will allow costs to plummet and quality care to flourish.
  • As states remove restrictions on low-cost and free medical care, dismantle and repeal Medicare and Medicaid; repeal the Medicare tax.
  • Sell the US postal service and end its monopoly privileges.
  • Eliminate the Federal Elections Commission (FEC); instead, require anyone who profits from government –contractors, government employees — to refrain from donating to political campaigns.
  • End the federal death (inheritance) tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • Dismantle and prohibit all government unions; only private sector unions that receive no funding from government should be legal.
  • Replace government employee retirement packages with Social Security. Government employees should be subject to the same taxes and tax rules, retirement age, and terms as what private sector employees get.
  • Remove every government department and function that is unconstitutional, unneeded or that is better served by the private sector.
  • Eliminate all “off-budget” spending: if politicians are so ashamed of how they’re spending taxpayer money that they need to hide it, it needs to be cut — immediately.
  • Eliminate the phony distinction “discretionary spending.” 100% of government spending is discretionary. End automatic funding of certain budget line items, and require lawmakers to vote on 100% of appropriations every year.
State Libertarian Solutions

  • Cut state government spending in half – to the level of 1998.
  • End the state income tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • End the state sales tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • End the state death (inheritance) tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • End the state corporate tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • End the Medical Marijuana Prohibition.
  • Reduce or remove regulations on businesses.
  • Remove all prohibitions on advertising or disclosing the price of medical care service. For example, in Massachusetts it’s illegal to publicize the price of laboratory tests — one of many reasons Boston is the Overpriced Medical Care Capital of the World.
  • Remove prohibitions on free clinics and other forms of charitable health care.
  • End all medical insurance mandates requiring coverage of particular medical services or of preexisting conditions (the latter of which makes a mockery of “insurance”).
  • Eliminate “risk pools” and other forms of bailing out the medical insurance industry.
  • Remove or reduce restrictions on who may perform health services.
  • Repeal all restrictions on home schooling.
  • Repeal truancy laws.
  • Decriminalize Marijuana.
  • End the Marijuana Prohibition.
  • End the Drug Prohibition.
  • Repeal laws that prohibit marriage between consenting adults, irrespective of sexual orientation.
  • Repeal licensing laws that restrict trade and deny qualified professionals the right to offer services and earn a living.
  • Sell and fully privatize all hospitals, clinics and other medical care facilities.
  • Repeal Certificate of Need requirements, removing the state’s authority to restrict the purchase of hospital equipment such as MRI machines.
  • Repeal restrictions on walk-in clinics; repeal government mandated pricing-fixing of health care services.
  • Dismantle insurance regulatory agencies and repeal their authority to choose which insurance companies may operate in the state and which insurance policies they may sell at what price.
  • Say “no thanks” to federal hand-outs in exchange for federal mandates, rules and regulations (e.g. Common Core).
  • End Central Government Planning of education. Return control of schools to local teachers, parents and communities.
  • Dismantle and prohibit all government unions; only private sector unions that receive no funding from government should be legal.
  • Require all government contractors and government employees to refrain from donating to political campaigns.
  • Replace government employee retirement packages with Social Security. Government employees should be subject to the same taxes and tax rules, retirement age, and terms as what private sector employees get.
  • Nullify NDAA and other unconstitutional federal laws.
  • End and outlaw unjustifiable asset forfeiture (“policing for profit”).
  • End the death penalty
Sample Local Libertarian Solutions

  • Reduce or remove regulations on businesses.
  • Cut the property tax by 25%; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • Cut the property tax by 50%; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • Cancel planning, design and construction of unneeded municipal buildings.
  • Sell off unneeded municipal buildings; use proceeds to retire bonds and/or cut taxes.
  • Get the government out of the business of providing recreational activities (courses and events in basket weaving, dancing, programs for seniors and children, golf courses, etc.); leave this to the far more cost-effective private sector.
  • No playing favorites: Immediately award any tax breaks given to one business to all businesses.
  • No playing favorites: Immediately award any reduction in regulations given to one business to all businesses.
  • Lower government wages and benefits to level of private sector workers.
  • Dramatically reduce government employee pensions.
  • Remove regulations that delay, discourage or add unnecessary burdens to the formation or expansion of businesses. Dismantle and downsize administrative functions accordingly and cut taxes.
  • Repeal or reduce local sales tax; cut wasteful and unneeded government spending.
  • Repeal restrictions on operation or ownership of taxi cabs.
  • Cancel planning, design and construction of unneeded school buildings.
  • Reduce taxes of any household with no children in public school.
  • Say “no thanks” to federal and state hand-outs in exchange for federal mandates, rules and regulations.
  • Dismantle and prohibit all government unions; only private sector unions should be legal
Require all government contractors and government employees to refrain from donating to political campaigns.
  • End all government employee retirement packages and put retired workers on Social Security with the same taxes and tax rules, retirement age, and terms as what private sector employees get.
  • Remove every government department and function that is unconstitutional, unneeded or that is better served by the private sector.
  • Eliminate all “off-budget” spending: if politicians are so ashamed of how they’re spending taxpayer money that they need to hide it, it needs to be cut — immediately.
  • End “policing for profit”

If anyone needs a source on actual party position, I took the liberty of posting the party website's direct link to their platform. I only included parties that would actually appear on the Missouri ballot in November.

I also included an extensive political quiz that not only outlines what candidate best suits you based on policy, but also what party best fits your personal ideology and where you actually fit on the political spectrum. Isidewith.com is a handy little political tool for those interested.

Match policy for policy. Let’s debate it out. Who is better for the country and why?

What kills me is this is an opportunity for both sides (as if it's a binary choice) to show why they vote a certain way and improve understanding, but what will probably happen is it will devolve to "Orange man bad" and accomplish nothing but proving the left doesn't care about the platform or the country so long as Trump is out.

I was trying to create a thread to offer up the opportunity for debate. But unfortunately, no one really wants to debate.

It’s a pissing contest. And this Nov is a big one for the country.

Why are you voting for someone? And no. Because he tans too much or you don’t like him is not a legitimate reason. Unfortunately, that’s where we are at on this board.

All you can do is try. It just shows how morally, intellectually, politically, and patriotically bereft the leftists on this board are.

I can tell you exactly why I'll either vote Libertarian, Constitution, or Republican in November, and I can tell you exactly why I won't vote Democrat for the foreseeable future based entirely on policy.

I couldn't care less if the Dems were running Biden, Bernie, Hillary, Kamala, or whoever. The overall platform is troublesome and their individual politics are worse. Notice I said nothing about them personally. My distain is with their ideas and ability to lead this country in the direction I want it to go.

With the left it's just "Orange man bad". They can't even give you a policy, they just dislike Trump because he hurts their feelings. And not even "their" feelings, but the feelings of their media overlords who tell them what to think.

Did I EVER address you individually? NONE of the leftists will address this. I didn't call YOU out individually and I'd appreciate if you minded your own business and didn't call me out for no reason. Either respond to the thread or don't. I don't really care what you do either way.

Something I was thinking about the other day which I thought is very fair is instead of paying all government reps the same wage we need we need to pay them the average medium income from which the come. So like our two Senates from Missouri would make $54,478 each, the senators from Texas would make $59,750. I think in a way it would encourage them to do better for their states, make policies that would help overall. The house would be similar but based on their area they are elected from. And all the bills they pass apply to them, like the insurance market, that is where they have to purchase their health insurance.

That post right there is VERY typical of you and exactly why no one wants to try and have a discussion with you.

You obviously are desperate to have some interaction with me. Why else would you continually respond to my posts despite rarely getting a response?

Stalker.

Anyway, it's not about me. Respond to the original post or don't respond, you are on ignore and will stay there. Discuss policy and why Biden's POLICY is better for the country otherwise this is the last response you get from me for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately, when I started this thread, I was afraid this where it was going to go. Sad and Kask, you guys seriously can't give a legitimate reason as to why you're voting for Biden over Trump can you?

Again, this is all about policy. Not who each man is individually.

You have an opportunity to sway people with what and how you think the country should go. When you don't try to back your reasoning, it gives off the impression that you really don't think Biden is better than Trump. And you're simply just "voting" to remove one for office while putting someone else in that is probably just as bad, if not worse.

I told you at the outset this was a noble effort, but it would just devolve to "Orange man bad". They're not politically savvy and they sure don't care about the direction of the country. CNN has told them Trump is the antichrist for the last 5 years so they'll vote for anyone not named Trump. Regardless of policy.

Patience, young man!!

I've never claimed to be a big Biden fan, but he is a better option the Don the Con.

The tax cut for the wealthiest Americans should have never happened. It will add an estimated $10 Trillion over 10 yrs to the national debt. And that was before the covid recession. Trump is accumulating debt like we have never seen before. Keep in mind, the tax cut for the middle class expires in 2025, the tax cut for the wealthy has no expiration date. Why? Because it benefits trump. Every decision he makes is for his personal benefit.
The $1200 per person stimulus check, which he insisted have his name on it like he was writing us a personal check as a gift, was simply to make him look good. There has been poor oversight on the disbursement of funds, with the wealthiest benefiting the most. Hell, we all know people whose businesses never missed a beat during the shutdown that still received personal and business funds.
Biden said repealing the tax cut for the wealthy will be his first act as president.

Enough for now........

Lol that's still just anti-Trump, not pro-Biden. The question is, what policy does your candidate support that makes him worth supporting? Not, what don't you support about Trump...come on dude.

Biden will repeal tax cut. Try reading and comprehending.

Well duh, taxing the crap out of the rich is a Socialist...I mean, Dem position.

That's all? Biden will repeal a tax cut. Seems like a great reason to vote against Trump.

Biden (well his handlers) will also open the borders.

One reason, there's many more, patience.

So you're OK with middle class tax cut expiring in 2025, but not for the rich???

I missed Biden's announcement on opening the borders, or could that be the usual pub scare tactic response?

I only need one reason to not vote for trumpy. I hate the lying con man.

Lol so again, it's just an anti-Trump vote.

I already outlined in detail my policy positions. You tell me, am I for or against tax cuts based on what I've already told you.

Yes

Don't care what you are for or against

That's kind of the point of this thread. Thus the reason for me even posting what policies I'm for. You'd know that if you were ever able to stay on topic in ANY thread.

You were an educator...no wonder public education is failing.

If you want to go there, I never lost to Valle as a coach.

Look I have respect for Valle. Don't be a hater. If you don't think SG is a good school, then you don't know anything about education. SG has for many years been in or near the Top 10% of MO public schools in overall performance.

Like I said stopper, I'll put SG top students against Valle's anytime.

Lol it's not the "top kids" that need your help. On a student to student basis, private schools produce better results. But then again, they're not just catering to their "top students".

I didn’t say court. I’m not naive to the situation. I have respect for both as well!

But respect the conversation/debate and give more than tax cuts man. If that’s your #1 priority come Nov, fine. I respect that.

But you’re a smart guy, coach. You’ve gotta be worried about more than just that come Nov. Take Trump and Biden’s names out of it. Policy is what runs the country. Not someone’s last name.

DUH!! Privates don't have the full spectrum of disadvantaged kids that publics do - learning disabilities, special ed, behavior disorders, poor parental involvement, on and on...

I'll take that one step further... Congress runs the country.

I have more dislikes, one at a time. Would like to see others opinions as well. I'll be the first to admit I don't know specifics on every issue that well, I find it boring reading up on politics, most of which don't concern me.

Okay man. I tried.

You seriously have no desire to have an honest debate. It’s a pissing contest with you and this is exactly why Trump won in 16 (que the, “well he won’t win this Nov” comment). Who knew a grown ass man, who clearly has some sort of care as you’re posting on a message board, can’t have an honest policy debate.

Instead, “Wahhh, Orange man bad.”

Okay, okay, okay. A lot to break down here so I’ll go slow.

1) You need others opinions to make up your mind? So you can’t think on your own? Got it.

2) Don’t know specifics (probably why you didn’t vote in 16) but you come on here and pound your chest about how bad Trump is.

3) EVERY policy effects you in some way. You saying that literally blows my mind, man.

Stop - On the subject of sports, I admit SG boys have lost something competitively and don't want to put in the work. Sports aren't a high priority to majority of boys. Good kids for the most part, but too many don't have that "hate to lose" attitude. Most show up the first day of practice without any extra offseason work than required, and are happy just to be on the team.
Don't be surprised if Valle starts to slip in football and baseball with the new classification system, and they have to go thru the gauntlet of private schools in the playoffs. It's a lot easier to maintain a high interest and commitment when you're romping thru Class 1 every year.
