Watched high school game last night that went 8 innings. Freshman pitcher picthed all 8 innings and pitch count was over 160. If I was this kids parents I would be very upset. He is by far best player on team and has a bright future ahead of him if coach doesnt ruin him.

We have a freshmen pitcher who is pretty solid. We have been keeping him in the 75-90 pitch range. Did stretch him out last game and he was at 115. We just don't want to make a habit of that this time of the year. . 160 is a ton for a fall game that doesn't really matter much. If it was a District Championship game, then I could see it.

That is crazy. According to ASMI, the max pitch count for someone of this age would be 75-90. There has not been an MLB pitcher with a pitch count that high this year, and they are getting paid millions to play, and are completely grown.

I would expect a HS freshman to throw once a week for roughly 80 pitches, depending upon conditioning, other positions, etc.
