Surprises of the Season

It's different when you legit don't have the numbers to play 11- man. Archie and Adrian had the same amount of kids out for football this year...

Here we go again. The young men i watched in the 8 man championship played hard and with pride. Quit denigrating them.
I would say it's more about the adults in charge.

That said if you look back at Archie's 'history' you see a bunch of 0-10, 1-9, 2-8, 3-7s. They really had no choice.

De Soto went 5-5 after winning only four games the previous four years combines (and one of those was a Covid forfeit). Even in their losses, they were competitive with the exception of the Festus game. Kudos to coach Schmidt, the staff, and the boys.

Surprise of the season you ask?

I'm surprised people enjoy 8 man football and consider it still being "Football"
Better get the Advisory Board to quickly approve a state championship bracket for fall baseball. This might even make Crane want to reconsider. With their enrollment, will they maintain 11 or end up doing a Hughesville? Pirates may want to remain competing for titles in the state’s top sport.
Wonder if they could have the championship at Busch since the Cardinals usually don’t need it so late in the season anymore.

If they were out physical-ed up and down the field I’d maybe lend something to that. But they really weren’t. Caught a pass happy team in a blizzard.. that couldn’t move the ball. And your ‘mauling’ offense scored 14..
BTW that 'blizzard' had subsided and the field was a dark green with about 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter.

And they couldn't run against a team with 5 in the box . That's what got them.

Without question. Lee's Summit came out of nowhere to be very solid. Beating Liberty North, Liberty, Rockhurst. When you expect them to come in and maybe win four games.
The Colorado Springs multi State champ HC definitely validated himself fast...............Week 1 never saw Liberty losing to them.
