Physical play getting worse?

I know this cliche is over used but "I went to a basketball game and a wrestling match broke out" the physicality of high basketball has gotten ridiculous. Their is literally foul on every play. The statement "they can't call everything" makes no sense or "let them play". I realize there is shortage of officials, I get it. Several games I have watched this year were more physical than college and NBA. It is almost like Darwin's "survival of the fittest/strongest". Do I have a solution? probably not. My only comments would be clean up post play, call fouls early(kids will adjust), call the hand-checking/blocking. To be a referee is a hard job. I worked for 15 years. and it has gotten harder. The men and women who try to officiate have my respect. Basketball is a skill game and I enjoy watching those skills on display. Just an observation from a guy who coached in over 1200 games and probably watched more.

It can easily be fixed. There are people on the court that can fix it. Blow the whistle. One of the last big school games I reffed my partner and I told them pre-game how it was going to be called. After about 2.5 minutes of game play, the grabbing stopped. I told one kid, who ended up at a P5 school, “if you don’t think I’m gonna foul you out because of who you are, keep grabbing. This will be a short night.”

magically-the game cleaned up.

We went to the finals and 3rd place games at the Blue and Gold tournament in Springfield last night. I mentioned to my son that the games were way less physical than what we are used to in St Louis area. By that, more fouls called, less shoving etc.

It is, to an extent I think. KC and STL area officials seem to let a lot more go.

SEMO is pretty rough too and has been for quite some time. Now when they call some fouls the crowd goes crazy.
