Kearney, MO
Here are a few in and out of NWMO region among the larger schools I have sourced so far:

Cardinal Ritter at Rochester IL (absolutely titanic game maybe best interstate matchup out there). Ritter also hosts Bishop Miege (needs no KC metro intro) and is at DeSmet the following week (8).

Speaking of the Spartans they will travel to Edwardsville IL who will also rematch Jackson on the road. Good measuring stick interstate games for both MO powers.

Bryant AR at CBC (glad to see this return game should be another shootout).

Bentonville AR at Lee's Summit North top drawer Week 4 game. The Broncos play at Mill Valley KS the week before. The Jags could be the overall #1 team in the Sunflower State this fall.

Others? I know it is still early but what the heck it beats talking about this 100 degree heat...............

Rockhurst hosting St. Pius week 1.
How will the Warriors fare up front? Rock lost a lot to graduation Pius returns most all their key players including a very dynamic QB (Fontana winner I believe). Extreme difficult game to figure.

Is THIS the year Pius finally beats St. James Academy?

St. Pius X had one win over a relatively good team. (1-3 vs. their best ranked opponents) The best four teams they played they gave up 34 points a game. Seneca channeled the spirit of Shannon Crouch and rolled them with power running. Just ran over them and could have made it worse. The Injuns brought in the backups that let Pius get two TDs. Their finesse players are back. But they will have to face grown-ass men from Rock on the front. Unless they recruited really good, could be a long day. And they ain't playin' 7 on 7 that week.

Top, do you have any insight on Blue Valley Southwest? I am eager to see them against Blair Oaks.

Not yet, sorry. In the (very) early stages looking at MO let alone the other states I follow but will post once I get some solid info BUT do expect them to contend in KS 5A again. Losses last year were blowout vs. Miege and a nailbiter at Mill Valley who I already know is coming into 2024 with sky high expectations even for them. This should be one of the marquee interstate games in MO............

Here is EASILY the most ambitious matchup for any MO team this upcoming season: Lutheran North opens at Phenix City AL Central last year's #1 ranked team in the entire loaded state and in the National top 25. Brings back good ole Colquitt County GA vs. Trinity Catholic memories!

I haven't heard nearly as much about Webb as we normally do on this board.
Well most of the people who normally talk a lot about wc football are still talking about baseball but that will be shifting soon. I actually think a lot of wc families see baseball as more important than football now?

But I heard coach thinks they will be pretty good this fall, but there is concern from more than a few people I've chatted with about how much more difficult the schedule is than it has been in the past. Starts at Lebanon, then Nixa and Kickapoo. Concern is they are already without the #3 kid and could lose more right out the gate in those games. If some or all of those games don't go well it could be a punch in confidence in addition to injuries. Of course they could also win all 3 of those games and feel great about things, just more anxiousness than I normally hear. They finish with Republic, Carthage and Joplin so it doesn't really get much easier other than a couple home games with Neosho and Ozark sandwiched in the middle. It also seems the new COC arrangement is pretty unpopular in WC.

I've also heard a few times that the upcoming 8, 9, and 10th grade classes are all very, very deep with athletes and not just football so there are some high expectations maybe not this fall but in the next few years for sure.

3 is Webb's best player and the 2nd string was a senior last year. They will have a large drop off at QB.

I don't think Joplin will be as good this year. A kid that I think was supposed to be a pretty good player at Joplin has turned up at CJ.

What happened to Gabe Johnson. I only really participate in the FB board so i dont go to the others and stay in the know

Week 1 : Kearney at Fort Osage

Fort returns three all-district players. RB Peppers (all-state), who is committed to Iowa State. All-State Anthony Thompson, LB (one of the best in the state) and Offensive Lineman, Presten Brashear, a junior who is at 270. New QB, and new OC. But OC for successful Staley teams, right?

I don't think Fort will hang up front with Kearney. But K is coming in with a new QB and a lot of the offense gone. So what? Three all-conference (two all-state linemen) up front are back on the O-line. They have four out of five of the most accomplished athletes back this year. Temple at LB (State wrestling champ) Smith at OL (state discus champ) Noland at Safety (all state in track seven times) Grace (state throwing champ and 1st team all-state as LB last year) Schranz (6'4" 280 OL all-state last year.) Three guys with D1 offers for football already. Would be four, but Smith is not doing FB in college. There are a few new surprises on the D line as well. Team will be physical and bully opponents. Have a power lifting contest--they destroy everyone they will play this season. I know, it isn't power lifting or 7 on 7. Kearney will come with the best HAM package K has put on the field. Fort couldn't stop that with their C5 State Runner-up team two years ago. I think it was 39-13 K then. Getcha popcorn ready.
