Odessa is open

There has been quite a bit of movement with faculty between Fort and Odessa over the years. The high school principal came from Fort. Wonder if he will try and lure someone out that way.

Is he though? I heard his name mentioned somewhere else last week.
No not at all he is free to do as he wishes. It is just another one of the laughable rumors from the long time residents. Every year since I've been here i have heard it's Alleys last year and Bult is taking over. This year was the funniest because why would Allwy come back for a rebuild year after the 2023 teams success.

Think they have same problem Maryville and some other Class 2/3 schools. Some of the best athletes in school kicking the round ball instead of football.
This sure is true with our east side 92 highway squad in Excelsior SO FAR. The new HC and staff may change that if gradually.

Wow. What a career for Coach Thomas. Hope he enjoys his retirement. Sad day for Odessa though. He brought some much needed stability to the program. Much like previous posters have pointed out. Odessa has fantastic facilities and amazing community support. Numbers are WAY down, especially for a class 3 team. Hoping Odessa makes a smart hire and keeps the winning tradition

More than a few.
There are state Spring softball championships for 2 or 3 classes.
If I had to guess, I’d say 80 schools play in the spring? I could be wayyyy off though.
Just did the math and there are 130 schools that play spring softball across 2 classes. Way more than I expected to be honest. Schools as big as Buffalo actually play it and I thought it was all tiny schools. Not that Buffalo is big but you get what I mean I'm sure.

A lot of smaller schools that can’t support volleyball and softball both in the fall. Or don’t want to support both.
Some choose to support both those programs and the ability to field teams. Most of those schools that play these sports in theses seasons would not have the #'s to support both if same season. A few teams see a chance to chase added success by being the bigger teams playing. All my opinion, but all makes sense.

My alma mater made the final four for spring softball last year and they’ve probably got an enrollment of around 375 or so grades 9-12 if I had to guess.

He is the only HC in the history of MO to have done that. Truly a legendary career, one of the best to ever do it.
I assume we are talking football here..... Head Baseball Coach at Southern Boone is the only other person to do it in another sport . Either way its an awesome accomplishment anyway you look at it!!!! Coach Thomas was the first in any sport to do it!!!!

Did their crop of really good freshmen wrestlers last year play football? If so, that should help in the next couple of years on the football field.

Yeah this new generation doesn't like being told the truth and mommy and daddy let em quit when their feelings get hurt
I hear a lot of people don't like him as a person... might be a reason for that roster size
What does being a nice guy have to do with anything? I will take winners..... Maybe you all should put that in your reclassification of football the Nice guy coaching division!!!!

No we need to ride the world of that weakness and teach these kids the hard work it takes to win not only in school but once they leave it. Hell where I work we keep about 1 out of 10 if the birth year is 95 or up.
They simply don't have the drive to wake up and do the jobs asked of them and get critiqued on the performance

So true. A lot of businesses like factories actually give bonuses just for showing up to work on time for a certain period. It's crazy that people have gotten so out of touch with what hard work is that you actually get bonuses for what you are expected to do....silly
