Down here in Tulsa tonight for the Backyard Bowl. Good game. Back and forth for 3 quarters. Union led 27 to 24 but Jenks owned the 4th, scoring the last 3tds for a 45 to 27 win. Attendance just under 20K.

Doesn't Jeff City have the largest HS only stadium?

Back when Rock Bridge and Hickman played at Faurot, they had the potential to have the largest crowd, but never 20,000 that I remember.

I always figured it was the ROCK/BS or BSS game until WEBB played them and I saw their following kinda shocked how small their games draw. WEBB cTOWN used to be said to be in the 7000 range but not sure where we get the numbers. One would figure big city competitive schools in KC or the LOU would draw huge numbers but 20000 is awesome for high school.

Yip. Chapman field at U of Tulsa. Friends father in law said they have sold out for this game at the U (40k?) but he thought that was a post season game?? Just hearsay so take it for what it is worth.

I know you can walk a ways after a bball game. At night, kind of a keep your eyes open experience.. Definately never had or saw any problems but I worked in Tulsa alot, theres a lot that goes on there.

20,000 people? thats crazy. According to the Tulsa newspaper: http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsext...cle_17da4de2-62c8-11e3-a148-0019bb30f31a.html there was under 13,000 last year when they faced off in the state championship. That's still a lot for a midwest high school game, but just found that interesting.

grew up in the area.. went to Skelly Stadium frequently... never had any trouble.... anytime those two teams get together, its a big deal.

I forgot, I wanted to give a shout out to Union for a very cool and classy thing on their helmets. For the game last Friday, played on September 11th, they added "SA" behind the "U" that is typically there. Well done!!
