The new rankings are even worse than the first. Diamond is up to number 6 in Class 3. St. Pius is so good they are ranked in class 3 and class 5. Verona is 10-6 and ranked ahead of College heights who’s only loss is to Strafford. I could go on but I’m sure you get the point.

It will start to work itself out as the season goes on. St. Pius being ranked in two classes 😂That's just a lack of effort on the Coaches Association but is par for the course. Maybe they are as confused with the new classifications as the rest of the state.

Is it possible that St. Pius X (Festus) at 7-2 is the team ranked in class 3 and they just mislabeled it? St. Pius X (KC) at 9-0 is the team ranked in class 5?

I guess it's possible, but no offense to St. Pius X (Festus). They shouldn't sniff the rankings. I'm sure that they just haven't adjusted to the class changes. A lot of inconsistencies early in the season.

A change in the format is needed. Each region needs their own rankings like the Joplin area. The coaches in that area vote for a top 5. Most of the coaches involved are from the springfield area.

I like MaxPreps Rankings as they factor several things like strength of schedule only issue ther is it takes some time for them to get all scores if nobody reports them to them

If you feel that an area is underrepresented talk to your coach. MBCA asks for people to be involved every year. Very difficult for coaches to vote on teams from other areas which sometimes leads to people being included based on the past few years, usually a team that bursts on the scene after not being very good takes longer to get included in the rankings. They really mean absolutely nothing just give people something to look at and talk about.

Lots of teams do not put things into Maxprep. It is usually based off a small sample of team.

Just think how cool MaxPreps would be if the state mandated, at the minimum, putting your scores in every week. Stats wise it would be cool as well.

I would love this too, makes it so much easier to stay on top of things. Right now, maybe 15-20% of all the Missouri high school teams put their stats on there

You can sign up and report scores for a team maybe even teams that would help atleast get the wins and losses i signed up couple years ago

It would be awesome because the schedule strength would be much more accurate and the rankings would take out bias from regional voting.

I don't agree with mandatory posting stats. Why give opponents a free scouting report? Plenty of game videos out there or the coach can go scout. And stats are often taken by team managers, and some coaches pat the stats to make players look better.

Player stats would make no difference in state rankings anyway.

If everyone did stats then everyone would be on equal playing field so it would not hurt anyone? St Louis area has a lot stats online? I think the coaches that scout are going to scout and make calls anyways. There are very few secrets after a month of play anyways.

I'm not calling for mandatory stats online. I just think MSHSAA should be consistent. I don't see how Baseball Coaches have a set period of time that it is mandatory for them to put in pitch counts or be fined, but other sports' team schedules and rosters aren't updated or scores entered. If they want their site to be where people go for information, make sure the information is there.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Pitch counts are required to ensure the safety of a pitcher's arm. Throwing your arm out is a real thing, therefore, the pitch count rule. Requiring BB coaches to update stats is just putting one more thing on an already crowded plate for the coaches. Besides, for the most part, it is usually just the parents who care about stats online anyway. Coaches can and do get their info from film and from each other if needed.
