New MSHSAA District assignments posted Saturday morning...

Well, that kills my day. I knew we (Glendale) were heading back to Class 5, but to see it in black and white print. Ouch! Pretty much wasted our Class 4 experience. Talk about bad timing to have the most shallow period in program history!!!! If it had been just a few years earlier, I would've enjoyed my first trip (maybe two) to Columbia. Oh, well.

Class 5, District will be a Kickapoo-Ozark affair the next two years. (Maybe Branson has an outside shot). But my Falcons can't beat Ozark and they can't beat Kickapoo. We're screwed!!!

Five straight losses to Ozark (the first three coming against average Ozark teams, but we were so bad....):
Feb. 25, 2013 - District Tourney (@ Branson HS)
Falcons(10-15) 67 - Tigers(16-12) 88 (5-5)
Jan. 24, 2014 (@ Ozark HS)
Falcons(15-11) 61 - Tigers(14-13) 68 (5-6)
Jan. 28, 2014 (@ Logan-Rogersville Tourney)
Falcons(15-11) 77 - Tigers(14-13) 86 (5-7)
Jan. 23, 2015 (@ Falcon Court)
Falcons(15-13) 71 - Tigers(21-7) 76 (5-8)
Jan. 29, 2015 (@ Ozark HS)
Falcons(`9-10) 73 - Tigers(19-9) 94 (5-9)

NINE straight post-season losses to Kickapoo:
March 6, 1991 - Class 4A Sectional (@ SBU)
Glendale(23-6) 37 - Kickapoo(20-9) 41 (34-13)
Feb. 27, 1993 - District Tourney (@ Kickapoo HS)
Glendale(23-4) 51 - Kickapoo(17-11) 54 (36-16)
Feb. 27, 1997 - District Tourney (@ Falcon Court)
Glendale(19-8) 49 - Kickapoo(18-10) 52 (39-22)
Feb. 28, 1998 - District Tourney (@ Joplin HS)
#10 4A Glendale(19-8) 44 - #2 4A Kickapoo(28-2) 49 (39-25)
Feb. 23, 2001 - District Tourney (@ Kickapoo HS)
#10 4A Glendale(21-7) 49 - #8 4A Kickapoo(21-7) 53 (42-29)
March 5, 2003 - Class 5 Sectional (@ SBU)
Glendale(22-7) 32 - #1 C5 Kickapoo(30-1) 62 (43-33)
March 1, 2006 - Class 5 Sectional (@ SBU)
#10 C5 Glendale(22-7) 74 - #4 C5 Kickapoo(28-4) 86 (43-38)
Feb. 24, 2009 - District Tourney (@ Ozark HS)
Glendale(20-7) 68 - Kickapoo(19-8) 75 (43-42)
Feb. 23, 2011 - District Tourney (@ Nixa HS)
Glendale(23-4) 69 - Kickapoo(24-4) 80 (44-45)

We're SO screwed!!!

Also, we'll NEVER be able to host the district, because of our PIECE OF CRAP OLD SMALL GYM!!!!!

Another WONDERFUL day in Falconland!

Kirksville will have a long haul for district time.. they are in a district with St Joseph Benton, St Joseph Lafayette, Savannah, Cameron and Chillicothe.

I'll bet they host districts in one of the 2 year during this cycle.

I can already see discrepancies between mshsaa enrollment numbers on and enrollment numbers on DESE. Unreal....

The thing that people forget is that there are certain students that MSHSAA allows to be removed. For example, students who attend a boys or girls home in that district, but don't actually attend that high school. There are certain bylaws that must be met for students to be deducted or not.

I think some people believe that schools can just deduct students and MSHSAA says okay, when in actuality you must provide a very detailed list of the students, where and when they started school for that school year, and the reason they are being deducted. MSHSAA then decides whether or not you are "allowed" to remove that student from your number. People, especially in our little area, say that we cheat because we have a girl's home that gets deducted as well as some students who do NOT attend school on our campus and are ineligible to play sports for us(per board policy) get deducted. Because of where are number falls in basketball in benefits us quite a bit, but the same thing happened at St. James a few years back and is the reason they are class 3 in basketball as well.

St. James has a boys and girls town campus. Those kids do not attend the public school (they attend the school on the campus at boys town) but we're always includes in our enrollment numbers until several years ago. That's why I was reading up on this topic. STJ has been in that position before with the additional enrollment numbers at an unfair advantage

Put everyone in one class and nobody has to worry about how many students schools have....
