Don't want to show my age, but I remember when the two games you had to win to advance to the finial four were played on a neutral floor.
How is it fair that a team gets to host both those games on their home floor?
Is MSHSAA that lazy, that they can't make an effort to set up neutral sites or is MSHSAA disliked that much and schools don't want to work with them to host these games.
Does anyone know what a host school receives for allowing games to be played at there facilities?

It changed at Covid and didnt go back... At first, I had the same thoughts you did. But we dont go to neutral sites for other sports, why should we do it for basketball?

so in the other sports, schools host back to back games or matches to advance to the finial 4? It changed during Covid, so it was neutral sites before, so before Covid MSHSAA thought it was a good idea to have neutral sites.

Yes, in both football and baseball it can happen. And sometimes does
And yes, it used to be a neutral sites starting in the Sectional round.

Some schools do host back to back games in other sports. Just depends on who wins the other games and how many they have hosted. Then it is either top or bottom of the bracket on the given year. I do like the home court and not on neutral. Most cases, schools get their expenses back that it takes to host and then all other money goes to mshsaa. I would say that MSHSAA found out that they could make more money by having hosting schools and that keeps them from having to rent facilities. Not only that, but all concession stands go to the host school. That in return could help pay for shot clocks in small schools.

2021 the year following Covid shutdown was played at a host school starting with district games being played at higher speeds. 2022 and 2023 returned to neutral sites and then 2024 and this year 2025 went back to people hosting. At the MSHSAA area athletic director meetings they said it was up for discussion to return to neutral sites. I personally think they should return to neutral sites for basketball and volleyball as those sports seem to have more home court advantage with the crowd then you do on a football field or softball, baseball, soccer or other outdoor sports.

I guess it did go back for two years.... But the fact remains that other sports, (ie football, baseball) dont go to neutral sites in the early stages of state playoffs.

Lack of neutral sites do to going to separate boys and girls basketball classifications and then how the D2 basketball tournament works with those schools having to keep their gyms unavailable.

A few years ago, the Mansfield girls played Fair Grove in a regional and had to travel to Warrensburg to play it. Since you don't know which teams will be in it, you can't always schedule a site that makes sense. I still prefer the old way however. Just pick more sensible places.

If you're looking for an SEO firm, it’s important to choose one with a proven track record of success. An experienced Los Angeles SEO firm consultation will help you assess your current online presence, target audience, and business goals. They should tailor a strategy specifically for your needs. Look for firms that offer transparent reporting, in-depth keyword research, and have experience in your industry. They should also be up-to-date with the latest SEO trends and algorithm changes. Don't hesitate to ask about their approach to both on-page and off-page SEO for a comprehensive strategy.
Hosting both games on a home floor can indeed give a team an unfair advantage. MSHSAA likely chooses home games due to logistical and financial reasons, though it may be seen as less fair. Host schools likely receive compensation such as a share of ticket sales or a set fee for allowing their facilities to be used. The reluctance to use neutral sites may come down to schools not wanting to deal with the additional costs or logistical challenges.

This.
I will add that the atmosphere in these gyms were electric during the playoffs. Same last year. The kids don't care about big gyms...they love playing in the environment some of the gyms create. Set a minimum size requirement (or adjust it) and then leave it alone.
