I'm curious because when districts are assigned, they usually apply to all sports not just football.
Not true. School my kids went to is Class 2 in fb and vb and cc, Class 3 in basketball and baseball, Class 1 in wrestling.
MSHSAA takes the # of schools participating and then divides into classes. Not all schools participate in all sports offered by MSHSAA.

There will most likely be approximately the same number of teams in each district. MSHSAA doesn’t do unbalanced districts in football.

You are mistaken. Different sports have different districts and many times they are even different classes. It gas been that way for some time

There are gonna be at STL schools in there. The move to spring doesn’t work for some schools or they don’t want to, as they don’t want to f up other sports. I anticipate Page buckling and STL schools playing 3-4 games plus playoffs

Am I the only person thinking MSHAA will cancel the playoffs?

Viewing Mr. Page from afar, I don't think he's going to give an inch. We'll know on the 24th when Columbia releases the FB classes/districts.

They have already had to make a choice of playing now or in the spring. Friday was the deadline to let MSHSAA know you were playing fall or not.

Is it the 24th now? I recall people saying classes & districts were coming out the 18th.

Its always been the 21st according to the original press release from MSHSAA (well, since the delay from 8/21)

This is from the MSHSAA website. Girls golf ,tennis, softball and boys swimming will be released on the 21st.
Cross country, Volleyball, Boys soccer and FOOTBALL will be released no later than the Wed the23rd.
So it could be Monday Tuesday or Wednesday.

I just confirmed with a executive at MSHSAA. You can opt for the fall alt. season after the deadline. If your football program is shut down due to covid you can contact MSHAA and play the alt season. So I don't know why anyone would have already opted out.

I thought you had to play a minimum of 5 games to be eligible for post season play???

State wants playoffs because of the money. Regular season they don’t care about as much but know it’s necessary to get what they want/need.

Renting those colleges for a few days isn’t cheap.

But with limited attendance rules will they even be able to break even?

Hey just so you know...Almost all the St. Louis schools left are planning on being in districts. Unless they have committed to the spring we are holding out that we will get to play and we will be put into a district this week. That includes Rockwood District, Mehlville District, Parkway District, Lindbergh, and all the others.

if sam page lets them play this year and that is a big if they will start Oct. 2, if they can find games. Schools that we suppose to play them in Oct have scheduled other games. Pus how good can you be with no game experience.

Going off what OHS_Tigers said about St. Louis schools planning on playing in the fall, this is my best guess of what districts in Class 5 would look like.

It also doesn't look like many of the St. Louis County schools are going to opt for Spring. They will hold out hope that the County changes its stance. In that case we could have entire districts not playing in the postseason.

Somebody said here the 5 game rule didn't apply to the postseason this year but I could not find that any where I looked
