My preseason predicted state champions by class update

Somehow I left Staley off that list. Edited.

And I'm considering going to my first game ever at Chillicothe. I don't think I have seen you guys play since you stopped Platte County's 52 game winning streak.
heck, I''d of paid your admission to several games between then and now.. we could of used our good luck charm LOL. Of all the games I've been too, I think that Platte County game is #1 on my list of favorites.

Lathrop? Didn't they lose a game 7-2 this year to a down Lawson team?

Didn't they just beat a solid Lexington team who's only loss is to Higginsville? I said that Lathrop is very athletic, I think that Lathrop got out physicalled by that down Lawson team who still was competitive this year but were definitely down. I was just saying that the team that Princeton probably relates closest to is Lathrop that Hamilton has played. I would say East Buch, but they don't' seem to be playing as well as they were at the beginning of season.

@Bearcatsfan23 I get what you are saying, I think, but I don't think you realize that during the Hamilton Lathrop game, there was over 300 yds called back in holding penalties, which included a touchdown called back, as well as that was week 4, you are comparing the KCI vs the GRC, also comparing week 1 and 2 games for Penney (being Gallatin and Maysville) to teams Princeton has played multiple times throughout their season. Whatever the reasoning, You're saying Princeton is gonna give Penney a run for their money. I hear ya. We have followed Princeton very closely all season and just speaking for me and my house our heart does go out to the Princeton Football family for their RB and all that their FB family has gone thru this season. We don't wish that for any teenager, as I would hope that none of your football family would wish ill harm on LaTroy Harper. That being said, if you have read any of my posts on Here I will always support our HORNET family as you are supporting yours. Wishing you all the best on Friday.

I agree hornets, I wouldn't wish harm on anyone. I think we all want NW Missouri to represent well at the state level and I think this Friday will be a good game. I think if your comparing last year's Princeton's team to this years it's a completely different team. Yes, the GRC is down overall, but Princeton obviously was the cream of the crop, I think most people would say overall the KCI is down this year as well minus Lathrop and Hamilton, East Buch had their moments, but seem to be faltering lately. Like I mentioned in a post earlier, I think the Harper/Smith match-up is a great one. Smith was heads above the rest in the GRC. I don't know his stats but I wish I did. I think Smith and Harper are both guys who if given an opportunity could play on Saturday's. Harper should be getting more D-1 looks then he does and I think Smith has developed into a FCS-D2 school talent, it's amazing how far he has come from last year.

@my3hornetsons is La'Troy playing tomorrow? Give it to us straight, many of us are trying to pick the best games to go to tomorrow night!

@Scrag ... I do know the answer to the question everyone wants to know, and I am not going to answer it. I have never lied on here in regards to that. It should not stop anyone from wanting to go watch this game, the reason I say that is because LaTroy is just one player of the HORNET TEAM. Is he a player that everyone likes to watch play yes he is, but so are other kids out there on that field. And this is a DISTRICT Championship game that should be one that everyone would want to watch, and see the outcome, as this side of the bracket is a tough bracket to get through no matter how you look at it. Hamilton, Princeton, East Buch, Plattsburg, Marceline, Monroe City. I mean you are looking at 3 KCI teams still playing, the 1st and 2nd place teams in the state still in it. All these kids have put in hard work and dedication, some starting in May, to get to this point, and this game should be cheered on by everyone no matter who is on that field and who isn't. That being said may both teams stay safe tomorrow night and grind it out in true football fashion.

Upset special tomorrow night: Lathrop knocks out unbeaten Lafayette County.

I have heard from several sources that Harper is out. That it is a grade 2 MCL sprain. I don't have any confirmation, so just passing along what I am hearing.

So here's the deal...

I live in Hamilton and nobody, and I mean nobody (even the football players I go to church with) will say anything definitive about his status. I get the same answer from everybody. So we will have to find out tomorrow.

Well that settles it, I'm not going to Hamilton, kiss my $7 goodbye. He's playing, Penney is just messing with poor ol' Princeton, that's going to be a one sided affair. Chilli v Spoofhounds here I come- how is your guest internet service at the field really want to stream the Lions All-Star game... wait I mean the LN v Trinity showdown

Princeton is good. Judging the quality of a team only by who they played is a bad judgement of a team if said team has dominated every one of them.

Princeton didn't just beat everyone they played, they completely obliterated them. Their average margin of victory was 38 points. Yes, Penney can win without Harper, but I think Princeton is the better team if Harper doesn't play.

I've not used it at our stadium, but it should be fine. I know some people that stream the audio of the Hornets games from the stadium with no problem.
If any posters find me, say hello! I'll probably be wearing a warm leather jacket and split time between sidelines photography and in the booth commentary.
If you don't want to walk from the parking lot to the stadium, there will be a couple of gators or golf carts providing rides from your car to the gate, just flag one down!
As you enter the stadium, Maryville seating to the right, Hornets to the center and left. Good luck and safe travels to all!

Let's assume he doesn't. Does that alone take them out of this game? Can't imagine that's the case. Sure, a MUCH closer game, but a game Penney can win unless Princeton is way better than I think.
I think if he plays the hornets win by a lot, if he was out it would probably be a great game. Levels the playing field when easily the best class 1 player doesn't play. Not gonna risk seeing a snoozer when there are some great match-ups happening else where.

I don't think it takes them out of the game at all. This team is really good as a whole. Also, a little bit of research showed a lot in the level of competition these 2 teams played.

Princeton's competition had a combined 30-62 win / loss record. One opponent had a winning record at 6-4 (Gallatin) and one broke even at 5-5 (Polo). Only 2 of their opponents were playing last week, and both lost.

Penney's competition put up a combined 50-67 win / loss record. 5 had winning records (Gallatin, Lathrop, Plattsburg, Lawson, and East Buchanan). 3 of their opponents are playing tonight (Lathrop, Plattsburg, and East Buchanan). Their sole loss at the hands of Lathrop by 1 point definitely showed they had the potential to beat them if they hadn't committed so many penalties.

Princeton has had a fantastic season no doubt. But let's not kid ourselves about the competition they have seen; it isn't even in the same ballpark. Princeton is good, but they haven't been tested by anybody yet. Tonight they will be. I have my doubts on how good they will be, but I hope they are everything that some folks on here say that they are. If they are, then hang on, this will be a good one.

I just hope to see a good, safe, clean game tonight by 2 very good teams.

Thank you to everyone out here supporting ALL THE HORNETS not just LaTroy. It has taken all of them to get to this point in the season. Believe me he is very special to me and a lot of people in our community. But it takes all of the boys on the field for him to do some of the things that he does. I know for a fact that he is working hard as well right now. The people that need to know what is truly going on do and At this point everyone is looking out for his interest, the teams interests, and all their futures. That decision has to be respected. There are a lot of great games going on tonight and to everyone stay safe!! Best of luck to all the teams in the KCI!!

1. We aren't trying to support or not support any or none of the Hornets. Most of us don't care at all who wins. We just want to know if it is a game we want to attend.

2. It takes the other players to allow Latroy to do what he does to an extent, but Hamilton has no one else (like 95% of the Class 1 schools in the state) that can do what he can. Without him, Hamilton is a very good team, but he takes them to the next level. He is quite literally going to be the difference in some games throughout the playoffs, potentially starting tonight.

3. I mean no disrespect by this, just stating that we aren't supporting Latroy or the rest of the Hornets any more than we are supporting Princeton.

8-man: North Andrew's shot at the title has increased all the way to 2-3 percent. Should win this Friday then the road may well end vs. Worth County. As of today my state title game is Worth County vs. Sedalia Sacred Heart.

Class 1: Valle Catholic has stayed about the same or maybe declined just a tad to 40-45 percent. This Friday may be biggest test on the road to CoMo. As of today my state title game is Valle Catholic vs. Penney (2016 semifinal rematch).

Class 2: Slightly upping Lamar's chances to 92-95 percent. No doubt the Trinity-Lutheran North survivor will be their biggest challenge in the semis but they should survive. As of today my state title game is Lamar vs. Palmyra.

Class 3: Center has not been playing particularly well of late and seem much more vulnerable than I thought coming into 2017 so dropping them all the way to 20-25%. The Jackets should get by PH this Friday then it gets real dicey vs. the MEC survivor (MVille-Chilli). As of today my state title game is Blair Oaks vs. Park Hills Central (who had that preseason???).

Class 4: Webb City is solid as ever favorite as D travels and wins this time of year. Haven't witnessed any up here so staying at about 95-98%. That ups if they win Friday. As of today my state title game remains Webb City vs. Ladue Horton Watkins.

Class 5: Staley has been an absolute machine and the weather won't change that BUT bitter rival Fort O looms at the Fort in the quarters. Given that I am keeping the Falcons around 50 percent. The BEST state title game of all, in my view, remains Staley vs. Vianney (2016 semifinal rematch and a classic it was).

Class 6: Blue Springs is among a pack of four KC metro hopefuls thus my percentage is down to about 25-30 percent and that is also, in no small part, due to what awaits after that in Springfield. As of today my state title game is Rockhurst vs. CBC (rematch from the regular season won by the Cadets 28-3).

Can you all believe we are already approaching these dates????? Let's see who others out there think are headed for the title games next month...............

Rockhurst, Palmyra and Penney didn't fare too well tonight.

Point now taken. Printon is for real!

In saying that all seven of my pre-season predicted state champs are still alive. As for past next round...............who knows?
Should be a great game Friday at Peve stadium. Already some smack talk from PH in the KC Star. Not much but enough. Last game Park Hill won by three. BS had two fumbles that lead to PH scores.
