mshsaa so dumb

Simply not true. It's a different game because of the 24 second clock. Not like you can run "motion" looks when you've got about 15-18 secs to do so (gotta get it up the floor first). It's naturally going to be isolation offense. But man, the talent of the individuals right now in the NBA is at a high for my lifetime. And that's saying a bunch. I'm 42. Lived through Bird, Magic, MJ, Malone, et al era.

I'll give you the drama queen stuff though. But heck, that's all pro athletes. Lotsa that stuff to see on Sunday in the Fall too.
I'm all for this conversation. Also all for it moving to the basketball board.

LOL. For the record, Bears and Raw started this whole thing. I'm just trying to inform the closed-minded football only crowd over here. (typing that with a smile in case any panties get bunched)
Basketball players wear panties. Football players do not. (Unless......Did Bruce Jenner play football?)

We sure about that?

You quoted the exact last time basketball was worth watching. LeBron would not last in Jordan’s time. No super teams with other who take the big shots to bail him out. There’s maybe 5 players would be as effective than as they are now. NBA is a joke.

I was just stating how I feel about basketball, not really for a conversation. Today’s stars aren’t my cup of tea. Basketball used to have defense and guys who you wanted to like, who would want to like LeBron? A man who lied about a racial slur on his garage door. And cries every time he’s fouled. Leaves town to join super teams, can’t win on his own, or put the team on his back? For a couple of my small examples.

That's old man get off my lawn logic. The players are much bigger and stronger now, as a whole. And the bigs are much more skilled. Embiid, Davis, Porzingis, Durant, and Antetokounmpo just to name a few. Don't get caught up in glorifying the past. Bird, Magic, MJ era was awesome, but the talent as a whole now is superior.

I can't stand Lebron, but he's an unreal talent. His act is old, but the dude is just a tremendous player...80's NBA defense was literally non-existent until the Pistons and Knicks started beating people up.

No? That’s a well understood opinion a lot of people have. It’s pathetic but two of those names will probably finish with higher stats than those HOF you mentioned. But once again lack of Defence. Sorry, I didn’t know we were arguing anything other than where the game is now, compared to the past. And what is good or bad about both. I mentioned LeBron because he’s the face of the NBA to clarify. Look we won’t agree, but I think this is at a stand still, and I don’t think it’s wrong in any way you like today’s NBA. I just think it sucks. Like polls will suggest with its viewership. Playoffs and finals are high, but nothing else is. Not many people like it. And hey! Something we agree on, I love college basketball. No goofy super teams, and kids who are playing for something together it’s wonderful.

It's uninformed if your real belief is there isn't defense in the NBA now, and there was an era previous to now. It's just not true. But I totally agree, 80's NBA was more entertaining. Maybe because I was younger and more idealistic. Or maybe because I only got to see one game a week on CBS after church on Sunday (tell me you remember those days!). But I enjoyed the theater of it more, but the players are just far more skilled today. And they're absolutely enormous compared to players of that era. It's freaky really.

But I totally get the college atmosphere too. Watched a bit of Purdue/Louisville last night. Couldn't give a rip about either team. But it was close and Mackey Arena was ROCKING. Really fun game to watch.

It’s hard to argue with someone who doesn’t even agee today’s NBA has less defense than other eras that actually won games on amazing defense alone. You takes things way to literal. But let’s agree to disagree. Nice chatting with you.

Speaking of winning on defense alone...

It’s not like Duncan, or Lenoard can score or anything. Never had any scoring right? He’s had plenty of Offense. Can this end please? Lol I’m sticking with my feelings of the NBA like millions of others. Thanks.

Please keep it going. You trying to end it while he continues to blow holes in your reasoning is funny. (I agree that the NBA sucks though)

How has he countered the defensive play?
Lack of leadership on teams?
And the lack of viewership, and willingness to even watch the NBA outside of the finals?
Just curious.

You defiantly did what to me? Or did you mean definitely? Either way, what'd you do to me again?

Our discussions. You are saying he beat me in the discussion. So I mentioned I could always discuss anything with you and come out on top again. If you’d like. Since you are going to butt into this. But I’d rather not. This conversation is pointless at this point.

Yeah...And Ewing or Thomas or Laimbeer or Dumars couldn't score either. Those guys being from those two teams that supposedly won on defense alone.

I said they have offense? You are reaching so hard. Please stop. I don’t really care your offended by people disliking the NBA. I couldn’t care less you like it. I was just saying there’s a lot more people who don’t like it, than do like it. Most people like high school and college ball more. Sorry.

I guess I don't understand today's Pro basketball rules versus the 80's, yeah I am turning 50 soon so I am pretty old, however back in the day you could not take 10 steps and then dunk it like they are allowed to do in pros today. I have yet to figure out when traveling and palming the ball became legal pro basketball? Go back to enforcing the rules. Okay I am done with the get off my lawn rant.

Lol. Your reading comprehension isn't good, huh? It's not about if I like it or not. It's about the level of play. That's what started all of this. Like I said earlier, I'd much rather watch college. But the level of play is nowhere near the NBA. And NBA talent right now is at an all-time high. You can debate that all you want, but every NBA expert (I'm not one, for the record ) will disagree with you.

When you don't have to play by the rules you are going to make playing the game look easier.

Same rules and it's called the same way. You can find plenty of video from the 80s and 90s of uncalled traveling too. What is interesting to me is...What would scoring have been like during that era if everyone played defense like the Knicks and Pistons?

That palming rule is out of control and nearly every level. Drives me bonkers. That and the charge/block are generally my two biggest gripes in a HS game.

It'd be interesting if there were actually data to support the claim. Totally agree traveling calls are missed in the NBA. But I believe they have been for quite some time now. Pretty sure Jordan, Wilkins, and all the big finishers of the 80's were guilty of this too.

Well my eyes when I watch a game or any highlights tell me it is a pretty high percentage. Those highlights would not be as spectacular if they called traveling and palming.
