At the 2005 Mo state wrestling tournament, MO had 4 all-americans, 3 of them which were from the MRVC (Moore twins from Oak Grove and Brandon Simpson from Richmond). Although the MRVC slits about 50/50 between class 1 and 2 at MO state wrestling tournament it seems as if all teams place high at state in their classes. I wrestle in the MRVC and our coaches tell us every year that the MRVC tournament will be tougher than the state tournament.

In years past the MRVC has been well represented at the State tournament. The last few years have shown the conference to be a little weaker than in years past, due to numbers in general being down overall. With only 5 state champs in class 1, and 5 in class 2, in 2005, there would be many conferences that would kill for 10 medal winners at State. Now, the strength in the MRVC, actually comes into play when you look at how many 2nd through 6th place finishers there are to go with those championships. Year in and year out the MRVC conference tournament is a great tournament to watch, but I am afraid if they go to a dual format as some say they will, it won't be as good as in the past. Call me a traditionalist, but if it ain't broke........don't fix it.

I agree that it is the best wrestling conferance in MO and is normally one of the best football conferances too but its down this year. Oak Grove, Richmond, Knob Noster, Pleasant Hill normally field some pretty good wrestling squads, now with Odessa turning its program around can add another school to good list. Grain Valley has been good but was down last year, so factor them in accordingly, and Higginsville is a solid team too. Lexington has a few standouts but not as a team , along with Boonville, and Carrollton.

All-Americans? 4? What are you talking about? MO had a lot more than 4 All-Americans last year at state.

I'm not really sure what you are talking about. Do you mean Freestyle/Greco cadet and junior nationals, senior nationals, junior folkstyle, brute nationals? If you just take the Fargo and Senior nationals results, MO had around 20-25 All-Americans at state last year.

This past summer, MO had 27 AA's at Fargo, and 7 AA's at senior nationals.

Congrats on your first career varsity win in your first career varsity match B-MO, go get em' Chewy!

I thnk it's MEC, They have PC, who've won state titles every year and alot of MEC teams do very well in the state tournament. Cameron had a good squad last year and took alot of (now) Sr's and soph's with inexperience. Cameron does have a 2x state champion returning MAryville had some good talent too with Gillenwater(?)and a few others.

every year??? Oak Grove won 11 in a row before PC took 2 from them starting in 2002.

Big deal, shows their better than oak grove. PC also has a 70 some dual MEC match streak going. How bout those two in a dual

Big Deal? That is a big deal. I think any team would take that many state titles in a row.

Since you keep bringing up all those state titles, I have a question for you. What team has taken the state title the last 4 times (in a row) they have met against Oak Grove in the same class?????? Answer PLATTE COUNTY!!

Huh??? Are you talking about PC getting first in the NKC tourney over OG by 40 points while OG didn't even wrestle well. Hope that's not the best PC has because come the end of the season when OG's young wrestlers are ready that won't be enough. Plus OG didn't have one of their starters at the meet
