You can't always go by size, but one that was impressive was Seneca in Fall 1987. They were on the 2A state title run.
Drove there from Springfield with some friends. Playoff game vs. Springfield Catholic. Knew that SMSU was
at least looking at this cat named Shannon Crouch.
Drove into town...place was shut down. Nothing there. Got to the Friday night lights, pulled in, and the home
side was a true sea of red. And the first time I ever saw the Tomahawk chop... Dayum. The fans looked like a red machine.

Best part. Kick off. Shannon Crouch for the touchdown. Why in the hell do you kick off to him? Seneca proceeded to dish out an ass kicking.

This is not Missouri but the Tulsa Union-Jenks game is one EVERY HSFB fan should attend once in his/her lifetime!

The old Excelsior Springs-Liberty game, which they played for nearly 100 years was intense. Saw a game at WJC in 1985 with at least 6,500-7,000 in attendance. And real hatred. Not phony rivalries like the Highway 92 B.S. These were two schools that hated each other and the game was violent.

The Mountain View Liberty and Mountain Grove games from about 2008 - 2016 were about as intense as it got in my eyes for C2 football. Lots of great memories from that era
Rockport and Tarkio 70s thru early 2000s were two goid teams and a very intense rivalry, best ive been a part of as a coach. Cant not mention the Bell Game, Marceline and Brookfield!

I wasn't talking about people in PA, I was talking about people from Excelsior Springs, Chris.

Shannons son is senior linebacker for Webb City

Crouch was a studddddd r , they called him the crouch express. Saw him as a soph, what a player.
I like how he ran back that TD on the kickoff and just flicked the ball over his head when he went in the end zone. Boy had crazy eyes.

Not Missouri but I remember Polk High vs. Andrew Johnson in 1966, when Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Al kept his socks from that game in a bag in the basement. Sniffed em now and then.

Seneca 56. Catholic 40.
Top five or maybe even top three best high school football games that I have attended. Run versus pass. Power versus finesse. Crouch only played offense, however Hodge put him in at safety in the 4th quarter of this one.

I didn't remember Catholic scoring that much. From the kick off, it seemed like Seneca had it in the bag.

Both of those teams could have played up a class or two, easily.

Loudest game I ever attended was 2004 Class 3 Semifinal between Harrisonville and Maryville at Harrisonville Memorial Stadium. Know as the "Sand Game." It was the last game played on a natural surface at Memorial Stadium. The grass was gone from 30-yard line to 30-yard line from a Sectional game two weeks prior against Osage in a pouring rain. Sand was brought in and rolled on the field. The game was tight all the way. Maryville had the ball with about 2 minutes trailing 26-22 on about their own 30. The Harrisonville crowd was going crazy trying to make it difficult for the Maryville offense. Harrisonville would intercept the ball to seal the game. Loudest I have every heard that place. Saturday afternoon games in November are still my favorite. 🏈💯

I listened to that game on the radio. Crouch was unstoppable that night. It was a shootout.

Watched that 87 Seneca team beat Butler I believe 21-7 in the playoffs that year. Crouch was a different dude that’s for sure.

From the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

Shannon Crouch, Seneca High School: One of the best ever to play for Seneca High School, Crouch ranks fifth in the state in career all-purpose yards (7,476) as well as 10th in the state in career rushing attempts (836) and ninth in career rushing touchdowns (77). In 1986 and 1987, he was a USA Today All-American, as well as a First Team All-State, plus led Seneca to the Class 2 state championship his senior year as the Indians beat Brentwood 20-13. These days, Crouch is a state trooper with the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Kind of sad his son doesn't play for Seneca.
