MO teams open in Illinois Shootout

Wednesday - November 23 - Washington Community High School
1:30 PM Troy Buchanan vs. Chillicothe IVC
4:30 PM Illini West vs. Midland

The 6th Annual State Farm Tournament of Champions is back for another exciting week of high school basketball. This year's Thanksgiving Hoops Extravaganza will begin on Tuesday, November 22nd and finish on Saturday night- November 26th at Washington Community High School in Washington, Illinois.

The State Farm Tournament of Champions is considered the #1 Thanksgiving event in the nation and will have plenty of top ranked teams and highly rated players to back their notoriety.

The Team Works National Classic will once again provide some fantastic talent! Huntington Prep are stocked with 10 high major DI players including the #1 sophomore in America- 6’7” Andrew Wiggins. Tilton School returns their five starters from last season's New England Prep School Championship team. 6'10" Jr. Nerlens Noel (#1 player in 2013 class) and 6'4" So. Wayne Selden (#5 player in 2014 class) are two of the top players in the country, regardless of class. The Team Works Classic will also feature one of the top scorers in the nation- 6’4” Sr. Buddy Hield of Sunrise Christian Academy.

The Methodist Medical Center Invitational welcomes three new teams to their 8-team tournament. Montgomery Carver-AL returns four starters from their Alabama 5A state runner-up team that finished with a 33-2 record last season. 6'2" Sr. Craig Sword (26 ppg) returns to the Wolverines’ starting lineup and will look to push the ball past other elite teams such as: Belleville East, Proviso East and Washington. Belleville East returns a ton of talent including- 6'6" Jr. Malcolm Hill who recently committed to the Illinois.

The Pirates from Proviso East have produced more NBA talent than any other school in Illinois history. This year's team will definitely continue the Pirate tradition with stars like 6'4" Jr. Sterling Brown and 6'0" Sr. Keith Carter. Host School Washington returns a wealth of talent that will be anchored by the heady play of 6'6" Sr. Ben Ryan and 6'7" Jr. Alec Peters. Topping off the MMCI talent will be 6'7" Sr. Willie Wiley of Springfield, who is looking to make his 3rd straight MMCI All-Tournament team.

This year's Uftring Auto Group Invitational will be highlighted by Indiana's #1 ranked small school team- Indianapolis Park Tudor. The Panthers return the top PG in the nation- 5'11" Sr. Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell who has already committed to the Indiana Hoosiers for the following year. The Panthers also return two super sophs- 6'5" Trevon Bluiett and 6'4" Troy Spears. Limestone, St. Louis Imagine College Prep-MO and Gallatin County from Southern Illinois will push the Panthers for the top spot in this round-robin tournament.

The DriveChevy.com Shootout Series will feature three shootout games. The first shootout game will feature the Peoria Richwoods Knights as they tangle with Chesterfield Marquette- MO who features one of the top big men in the Midwest- 6'10" Sr. Ryan Rosburg. Chillicothe IVC will match up with Missouri's 2010 5A runner-ups, the Troy Buchanan Trojans who feature sharpshooting 6'1" Sr. Derek Deters. Illini West and Varna Midland will hook up in the final shootout game, as 6'7" Sr. Evan Mc Gaughey goes head to head with Midland’s 6'6" Sr. Doug Shanklin.
