Mo State is the best place for the State championships

we talked about this on the way home. MU Just isn't a good place for this. At least in the Dome the "Sparse" Crowds seemed louder, and you could actually hear the Announcer, however Bigger isn't always Better.

Mo State last year was WAY Better. You are closer to the actual field, the Crowds "appear" Bigger, and ya got Bass Pro just down the Road and around the corner. If they have to, find another Smaller College Stadium north of I-70, then flip back and fourth between it and Mo State each year.

I agree the stadium announcer volume needs to go up significantly at Mizzou. You can't hear anything when the crowd is cheering. That's a simple fix.

With respect to Bass Pro Shop there's one at I-70 and 63 in Columbia. Also one is at I-70 and 470 in Independence. We could have the games at LS West or Blue Springs. Those would be more intimate than Missouri State.

I think it's interesting that we held title games in St Louis for decades but few people seem interested in having them in KC. Many HS football fans have zero interest in traveling to BFE southern Missouri to see a football game.

Either centrally locate the games in Columbia or Jefferson City, or put them in the large population centers, KC or St Louis. Any other option, including Springfield, is not a good option. It was stupid for CBC vs Blue Springs to play down there.

The best option, as others have stated, is to have multiple locations across the state and to assign games based on the participants.

You would think the sound system is an easy fix, but it's been a major complaint for 20+ years. At least we finally have the turf thing figured out it seems.

I vote they have it at wherever location is most inconvenient for the people who gripe no matter where they have it (people on this thread). Choosing a championship location based on Bass Pro shops? Why not Cracker Barrel or Hobby Lobby? Try this on Thanksgiving weekend, be thankful.

Why would you have it at a small time school if you could let the kids play in an SEC stadium?

If that was the point then Arrowhead is the place to place. I think most high school players would rather play there than Columbia, especially on the West side of the state.

I understand Mo State is in SWMO but it is the best combination of size and location. NWMSU has the facilities but is not as centrally located as Springfield.

And in the process ensure that ONLY I70 teams have the potential for a “home” game; Makes perfect sense!

Southern MO kids don’t deserve to ever “host” (even though they’re good for three or four finalists every year) because big city peeps like you don’t want to slum it down to BFE/SOMO [/sarcasm]

Way back in the stone age we played at Arrowhead one year the next at busch stadium. Why can't they still make this happen? If tax dollars are involved in those stadiums they should get to use them. Arrowhead and Dome.

Nearby White Castle should be required.

They played at Arrowhead and Busch in the 80s when both had astroturf, Arrowhead is grass now, probably a big reason they don’t host now

i
Exactly ! Now that they have played 2 places outdoors consecutively why not split the state up in 4 quadrants and rotate the games in venues in them ? MU has a very sterile feel to it to present a high school football atmosphere !!! Smaller stadiums across the state seem like a logical choice!

Kids seem to like the big stadiums,,,,only time in most of their lives they will be able to step out on a field like that

Why did you intentionally leave out this part of the quote where I wrote "The best option, as others have stated, is to have multiple locations across the state and to assign games based on the participants."?

Class 1, 2, and 4 would have been good candidates for Springfield. 8-man should be at Mo West. Class 3, 5, and 6 at Mizzou. It all works out.

FOOTBALL ON THE MOVE?

The Missouri State High School Activities Association has requested interested venues submit proposals to host the state championships of five sports including football.

The last two seasons, Mizzou and Missouri State have each served as championship venues.

The Dome at America's Center could be in play to host state football once again. The dome was home to the state championships for 20 years, the longest stretch of any venue. It would have to submit a proposal that coincides with MSHSAA specifications.

The Dome is the best place. I know it's indoors, I know it's big, blah, blah, blah. But it makes everything equal except for travel. The great thing is that you can go to all the games and don't have to worry about being cold or wet. Can't believe the STL sports commission hasn't been trying to jump on this.

My "Bass Pro Shop" comment was meant as a Joke People. I don't even Shop at Bass Pro Shop. :-(

the best Idea in my opinion is to spread it around and take it to a Different College Stadium every year. The original comment was the MU just wasn't a Good Place for it. I agree with that and thought MSU was just better last year.
just pick 5 or 6 stadiums around the state, then spread it around each year.
