Mo State is the best place for the State championships

Should be at the dome since the whole state paid for it and it sits empty now. Also should hold state band competitions, soccer championships, field hockey, etc.

Missouri State and like size schools just aren't big enough. If it was just one game, then maybe. But i know as many others do, i like to go watch and support all the local SWMO teams that are playing. In the last 5 years, we have had 2 or 3 playing every year. If Lamar is playing, most of the Webb fans are there watching, and Lamar supports Webb as well. These smaller schools kind of deter these local towns of supporting each other. If they are visitors, they would fill up that side and a good part of the Home side just with their hometown fans, not including other local fans. Would love to see them play in Springfield if they built a bigger stadium, but MSU cant fill up a class 2 stadium right now, no way they are expanding.

What?

Lamar and Webb City do not bring 20K to the state title games. What is the point of this?

The best place to have it is at the Dome. I don’t remember people complaining when it was held there, though I’m sure there were.

People will complain no matter where it’s held IMO. Some people would complain if you gave them $100 bill that you didn’t give them five twenties.

But the Dome eliminates the weather concerns and provides a comfortable atmosphere. The casual fan is much more likely to attend.

I know I’m not driving out of my way to sit in the cold or freezing rain to watch two teams play that I don’t really care about. But I did attend several years when it was held at the Dome.

As others have pointed out, tax payer dollars helped build the thing and it should be put to use. This seems like a good way to use it.

It may not be perfect (although I'm not sure how people could complain about it being located in the HOME of toasted ravioli and pizza cut into squares), but it was always pretty nice. Most of the people that have complained about it being on one side of the state don't go anyway.

I like the championships played at MoState except one thing.....its too dang close! Can't justify the whole weekend getaway, staying in a hotel with other fans when it is in my back yard.

I vote they have it at wherever location is most inconvenient for the people who gripe no matter where they have it (people on this thread). Choosing a championship location based on Bass Pro shops? Why not Cracker Barrel or Hobby Lobby? Try this on Thanksgiving weekend, be thankful.

Hey...We've got Wobbly Boot and Baxters at the Lake!!!

SEMO would be a great place to have it. Perfect size stadium, plenty of hotels in town, and we're getting a Sugar Fire. :)

Think there is enough lodging for (potentially) 10 teams+fans?
Most definitely. There are about 15 hotels in Cape County that are within 8 miles of SEMO. Drury just built a new convention center, and there are more than enough restaurants in town to feed everyone.

KS and OK use a variety of smaller colleges and even neutral site high schools for playoff rounds in some cases. KS 5a was at PSU which is a fantastic venue but about as centrally located as Sikeston in Missouri. I think I saw that OK 6A-1 was at U. Tulsa and 6A-2 was played at Jenks HS. These states don't have an indoor option, but still choose not to use the largest stadiums in the state like KU, OU, OSU as far as I can tell.

I think it would be kind of cool to host it at Branson. That stadium is probably large enough, plus it's a town used to acommodating crowds and has a ton of other attractions where people could do more than just go to their game. I'm sure some people from other parts of the state would complain about the geography and parking would be a disaster.

All things considered, I like what MSHSAA is doing with MU/MSU. The dome has it's perks, but the 67,000 empty seats makes it a less desirable venue in my opinion. But I wouldn't complain if they went back there.

I'd just be a mess of wings and beer bouncing from Tractors to Pilot House to Dexter BBQ. I bet I could put on 10 lbs in a two day binge. Man, I miss Cape sometimes.

Pilot House went smoke free. The food even tastes better now
Dear lord. I might have to think about job searching in SEMO. Nothing better than heading to lunch at Pilot House during spring semester for a two hour break, pounding wings and a few beers, then completely blowing off afternoon classes and hitting the Jaycee all afternoon instead. Then stopping back at Pilot House on the way out. Many spring days I ate two meals there.

Sands Pancake House is now smoke free too....It moved across town but is just as good too.

Don's is closed, but I remember the slinger well, bucks and cheese, corn dogs....mmmmmm
I remember getting them at about 1am...then having a headache and rough stomach the next day. Then doing it all over again! Those things were nasty...and awesome!

Man that's sad it closed. It's been forever since I was near the bridge, but last time I was it looked pretty desolate in that area.

Agree. I prefer a climate controlled dome in November.

I have a hard time going to the bootheel for state championship. I'm sure it would be fine but it is a lot farther out of my way. Columbia would be the place since it is in the middle.

Weather is part of football, so the dome’s controlled climate shouldn’t be a factor.

I like moving the Show Me Bowl around the state every year (assuming its played in cities that can accommodate); gives fans around the state a chance to see what cities around the rest of the state have to offer :D
