Miz-Zou best head coach...~?~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...Us face it... Missouri is and always will be mediocre D-1 basketball school...
The list of major accomplishments in the entire history of the program would not equal the number of fingers on ones hand...;) C =|~
Has potential to be. It is funny how players can be average at Mizzou, but yet transfer to the likes of Hawaii and Gonzaga and have great seasons.
Competition in conference has a LOT to do with that.
But yet JW III was a major piece in a NCAA run for Gonzaga but yet Mizzou can not get players? That is what I am saying. Its not a coaches problem at Mizzou. This falls back to all the problems off the court and fields for Mizzou. Been on a downward spiral every since.
I disagree...JWIII's numbers at Gonzaga in the tournament probably weren't much different than they would've been had he stayed at MU or another P5 school. I think KA recruited kids that were going to be solid players by the time they were juniors and seniors. You saw a little of that in CM's first year. That was always going to be KA's philosophy, recruit 3-star/4-yr players (like Norm), coach them up, and hopefully land the occasional Peeler/Chievous/Doug Smith type. He never really got the time to do that, and some of that was definitely on him for not being able to hang on to players and balance the roster (grad transfers/juco guys early). Martin is/was supposed to be different. He was supposed to be able to recruit studs. I'm not sure I'm seeing that yet. He's had bad luck with the Porters. But Tilmon has regressed, or at the very least not gotten better. Same with both Smith guards, heck any guard for that matter. And this whole toughness routine he talks about and how it equates to playing time. It's really confusing, and I bet it's really confusing to his players too. Couple that with the fact that he's just not a very engaging or outgoing personality. All of that matters in recruiting. This much is true, if he's not getting great recruits and his player development isn't good...going to be hard to win games.
The Missouri Tigers sure played a great game against Auburn. This was not one of Bruce Pearl's best game as a coach. It appeared to me Bruce was trying to work the Refs too much. Bruce's Kid is Auburn's asst coach, when he started working the Refs, there was nobody else to coach the team. The Missouri guards had their way with the lack of defense of the Auburn guards. The Missouri guards were getting in the lanes and the Auburn guards were not " Manning up " and letting the Missouri guards use their foot work which ended in easy basketball. For me the Missouri Tigers played a great game and Cuons Martin deserves credit for the big win.
Ole Miss will visit Mizzou next Tuesday. Ole Miss has one of the best guard combination in the SEC. Missouri needs this home game win but it will not be easy unless the Auburn game plan is executed against the Rebels. Ole Miss coach Kermit Davis most likely will have his team ready for the Tigers. Kermit Davis had Kentucky on the rope when he received a " T" with the ball and up by 3 points with under two minutes to play @ Kentucky. I'm sure Kermit Davis learned a lesson on when not to get a T. and will get his "T" fouls when his opponent has the ball instead of the Rebels with the ball. I guess it's never to late regardless of experience on how to coach or play the game of basketball.
Do we have any high school basketball coaches who will admit to receiving a " T" when your team has the basketball?
I have no idea whether CM will work out for Missouri. What I do know is the injuries to Smith and Tilmon have allowed guys to step up and show some hope for the future. These guys play really hard, something that was noticeably lacking under Kim Anderson.
I have. I can admit that. If I got worked up enough to get a T, I wasn't thinking about who had the ball when I got it.
Very good, Expect2Win. I hear you, but when your team has the ball, that is not the time to go back to play or plays before. The T we are talking about could be a six or seven point plays. ( Two free throws, your opponent gets the ball, and your team gets the turnover )
Being a successful basketball coach @ any level can be a series of events that takes place before choices are made for the present or future.
Expect2 Win and others, before you became a basketball coach, did you purchase a whistle and a clipboard for your first position? All modern day basketball coaches coach timeouts with a clipboards instead of numbers and names. Expect2Win, are you a clipboard mam?
I'll be watching the Ole Miss @ Missouri game tonight, Cuons Martin will use his clipboard on all timeouts tonight. Watch closely.
1. Missouri is a one point favorite against Ole Miss.
2. First place Kentucky is a 2 point underdog @ LSU.
3. Arkansas is a 7 point underdog @ Florida.
4. Big Ten action----Illinois is a 6.5 underdog @ Penn State.
If you were in Vegas--What game listed above gives you the best chance to win?
Trust me I knew I made a mistake 10 seconds after I did it. I know I messed up.
As far as to whistle and clipboard. Yep had a dry erase Korney board, before my first job. I also got a Fox 40 whistle in red for my teams' colors. I quickly learned that I was not going to be using them. I very rarely used the whistle.
