Hoping we can catch a break and get an at large bid for Wisman and/or Lemanowitz

Here's a breakdown of the weighted criteria the DI Wrestling Committee uses when selecting at-large wrestlers. #NCAAWrestling

Nice preview credit to the writer at the bottom

McGhee has Townsell from Stanford in the pigtail, and then #2 Joey Dance.
I like this draw for McGhee. He has a chance to get so momentum going before wrestling Dance who he has wrestled close in the past and who has a history of choking at nationals.

#10 Erneste has Ott from Harvard likely followed by #7 Montoya.
This draw is solid. Ott is a guy he should beat and bonus could be in play. Montoya is a better stylistic match then Richards and Micic.

#8 Eierman has a pretty tough Logan Everett. He should win though. Then he would see #9 McCrystal from Nebby. I like Eierman in that match. Heil is his likely quarter.

#3 Mayes... YES! Mayes got the three and Thomsen is the 7. Both are really helpful. Mayes has Kargbo of George Mason, then a likely third match with #14 Bleise of NIU. If he wins there he gets #6 Chishko whom he has a win over this season. Collica is the 2 seed and they have split this season. About as good a draw as he could get.

#3 Lavallee has D'Angelo from Princeton then likely #14 Van Brill from Rutgers. Then he will have Ream or Heffernan. Very winnable quarter.

Lewis got the six seed, which puts him opposite IMAR. He will win his first match and then have a tough one with Steiert of UNI. If he wins that He gets Joseph of PSU and his semi would likely be against Massa.

Cox got the #1 seed. Haught is the only guy on his side who can wrestle him real close. I see a lot of bonus coming here. I like that Moore is on the other side.

Myers drew #8 Kroells in the first match. Could be worse. He has wrestled a lot of studs this season.

I like most of what he has to say but his optimism at 125 is baffling.... Barlow hasn't wrestled well for quite some time.

agree 100% - I do not have any confidence factor in Barlow and expect him to go 2 and out.

From my Brackets

Barlow wins the pigtail against Townsell of Stanford then looses to Dance. He drops to
a match with Drew Templeton of Wyoming a winnable match but I have the Wyoming
senior moving on.

Erneste beats Ott of Harvard hopefully bonus points - Looses to Montoya the 7 seed from Nebraska
drops to face Missouri native Colby Smith off App State pulls out a close one - gets Jamal Morris of NC State
to make it to the Blood round where he looses to a very good Steven Micic of Michigan

Eierman defeats Everett of Army looking for bonus on this one - Colton McCrystal of Nebraska is next a very
tough match which Jaydin wins - This brings him to a rematch with Dean Heil undefeated #1 from Okie State
looses a close one - drops to Randy Cruz of Lehigh in Blood round wins another close one - then looses to
Anthony Ashnault the 5 seed from Rutgers - which puts him in the 7th place match against Joey Ward from
North Carolina and Jaydin finishes 8th

Lavion Mayes defeats Kargbo of GMU, Bleise of NIU, Chisko of Virg Tech - to meet up with old friend Anthony
Collica of Okie St in the Semi's looses a war and drops to Sorenson of Iowa looses that one to put him in the 5th
place match which is a rematch with Solomon Chisko of VTech Lavion finishes a great career with a 5th place medal

Lavallee defeats Walker Citadel bonus, Mastriani VTech possible major, meets up with Clayton Ream a Missouri
product wins close one to advance to Semi's vs Kemerer of Iowa who sends him to the wrestleback semi's against
Joseph Smith of Okie State -Smith wins putting Joey in the 5th place match vs Palacio of Cornell - Lavallee finishes 5th

Daniel Lewis defeats Zilverberg of SDSU then Steiert of UNI faces Joseph of PSU who knocks him to the wrestlebacks
where he gets Valencia of Arizona State Lewis wins to face I Jordan of Wisconsin looses to put him in the 5th place
match vs Chad Walsh of Rider wins to become the 3rd Tiger to finish 5th

J'den Cox the Mizzou legend - 3 time champ

Austin (thanks for transferring) Myers - only freshman Heavy to make the tournament - I have him loosing both his matches
but he has been wrestling well and if he can get to and convert that excellent single of his maybe he pulls an upset.

That's quite an impressive effort... I'm not going to disagree with any of it. It will be interesting to see what their "team mindset " is as the tournament unfolds. Will they truly compete or fold their tent ? Either way, it is always fun to watch !

Multiple finalists for the first time - A National Champ and 2 runners up as well as a 5th and 6th place finisher for five
AAs - Erneste with a nice showing - 5th in the Team race
Brian Smith wins Coach of the Year Award
Great tournament for Missouri as they exceeded expectations.

To answer my own question: "Will they compete ?" They most certainly did ! Friday was a day that I won't soon forget as the Mizzou kids gave a phenominal effort ! What the Penn State kids did in the finals was equally memorable. It was a shame that Mayes and Lavallee had to run into two of them.

Yes possibly the best day of wrestling ever for a Mizzou fan followed closely by seeing Ben win the first title ever for the Tigers.
