MICDS vs Union

If I’m not mistaken, he lead Palmyra to a runner up ShowMe Bowl trip circa 2000. Coached 4 different programs to the title game?

Can anyone validate this?
That was Par Pitts in 00 I think. Fred left Palmyra for Bolivar in 2000ish, right??? Then on to Hville in 03ish? Maybe 02. Can’t remember. I remember being a kid sitting with Fred and Steve Dains (his longtime asst) in a hotel room during one of the Lakers later 80s title games. It could’ve been one in the 90s though. Morning before the game. They were Laker assistants back then. My head was swimming with the amount of football they were talking. It was intense. Fred has always been warp speed about football. You could start a conversation with him about the price of gas, but before you knew it he was full on talking about football.

Didn't Par Pitts make a coaching stop in Odessa?

I thought so. He had a pretty rough time in Odessa too.
Long list of those folks in football and hoops both. Grew up with a guy that coached hoops there for a few years. Drove about 45 mins each way to do it. Was a serious grind. Good dude and good coach. Couldn't wait to leave. Place can be rough on coaches.

I believe before Coach Thomas they went through something like 5 coaches in 9 years

Based on the team I saw today vs the Helias team I saw last night I would bet money on MICDS. However playing in Jeff city has to be an advantage to Helias
No more advantage than the St Louis schools playing at the Dome back in the day

Oof. That’s rough. Buddy said the expectations from those in the community didn’t exactly match the level of commitment. Talent was there. Inmates ran the asylum though. Which I’d say is pretty typical with a place with that high of turnover. Seems to be better now. At least from a long way outside looking in.

I am pretty sure the AD and superintendent that hired Coach Pitts were both fired within the month(s) after he was hired. Definitely before the school year started. So I am sure this did not help with support during his time there.
