It’s time again for the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Hall of Fame Celebration Weekend in Springfield, Missouri on April 22-23, 2017. Once again, the MBCA is proud to present the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Academic All-State banquet, and Missouri Challenge showcasing the top seniors throughout Missouri, featured in one weekend.


MBCA Hall of Fame Inductees

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association is proud to release their 2017 Hall of Fame class to be inducted at a ceremony on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12:00 PM.

The induction ceremony will take place at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in Springfield, Missouri. Tickets for the event may be purchased from the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association for $20 at the door. The Hall of Fame will open at 11:00 AM and lunch will be served at 12:00 with the ceremony to follow.

MBCA Academic All-State

The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) is very proud to select and present the Academic All-State basketball teams each school year. The MBCA honors these top scholar athletes at the banquet on April 23, at 1 PM at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, Missouri.

MBCA presents Missouri Challenge

Springfield, MO - The O'Reilly Family Event Center on the Drury University campus will play host to 160 of the state's top graduating senior boys and girls basketball standouts when the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association hosts the Missouri Challenge on April 22 & April 23. Teams are divided to represent each of the MSHSAA’s eight regions. Collegiate Awards is serving as the title sponsor of this event.

Gary Filbert Lifetime Achievement Award

The highest honor given by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association, the Gary Filbert Lifetime Achievement Award, will be presented to George Wilson, formerly College of the Ozarks. George Wilson, a recent inductee into the NAIA Hall of Fame, was the women's basketball coach for 16 years at College of the Ozarks, where he had recorded 447 wins and 89 losses. In 2013 he reached the 1,000 win mark including both his high school and collegiate career. He was the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) Women's Basketball Coach of the Year 10 times.

In 2013, his team won the "What's Right in the Sport" award and the Buffalo Funds Champions of Character award. Wilson has won 13 MCAC women's basketball regular-season titles and 15 women's basketball conference tournaments titles. Prior to coaching at College of the Ozarks, Wilson coached high school boys' basketball for 31 years. The College of Ozarks women's basketball team has been the NAIA National Championship runner-up four times.

Mr. & Miss Show-Me Basketball will be announced at the Academic All-State banquet on April 23 in Springfield.
