Matheny says Peralta will get the nod at 3rd base

TLR was more open to data than Matheny. He was a pretty revolutionary manager in his time. Plus he brought Dave Duncan along - you can't ignore the fact that he had one of the better pitching coaches of all time as a part of a package deal.

I thought it was time for TLR to retire when he left but I think he was good enough during his time here once you consider the Dave Duncan effect.

I think a 45 year old version of TLR would be a good hire.

My biggest complaint about TLR wasn't wins and losses, it was that it could be agonizing to watch him make 5 pitching changes in a game.

This...The amount of info available now is tenfold what it was then. And call me cray cray, but I tended to trust the gut of The Skipper (and his resume of experience) vs the gut/small sample size of Matheneging.
you cray cray

Lol...while that is true...hard to trust Matheneging over The Skipper when playing a hunch. Neither are Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the gut category though.
yeah but Leroy Jethro Gibbs has all of his gut feelings written into the script for him and he's the executive producer so he pretty much gets what he wants. :p

Exactly there is TMI.
I used to love scouring the box scores every single day in the newspaper and looking at the basic info. It simply told the story of the game.

Now I can't even decipher the info and one game won't fit on one screen of my phone.
I can't imagine how much info these people have to filter out now in the meeting rooms.
If I wanted to watch Neutron on his computer i would invite myself to his office.
"Play" ball. "Play".

I don't care what percentage of Waino's pitches are cutters. Is he getting people out?

I don't care what Grichuk's exit velocity is.
Is he getting on base? Is he producing runs?
A bloop hit is better than a line drive right at the third baseman. RESULTS! Don't tell me about the pain, just show me the baby.
