And we can’t get the damn run in.
Can’t get the ball out of the infield.
Bad baseball. Boring. Not good.
Two games in a row.

With a runner on third and less than two outs, STL is the worst team in baseball.

Playing .700 ball since the ASG. Could be .800 or .900 if they could get those ducks home from 3B.

Am I the only one that thinks this is fool’s gold? I just can’t see any way fathomable this team is going to play winning baseball for a long stretch. That lineup is just horrid. Like really, really bad.

I’m thinking they are a .500 team. That’s why I mentioned what I did. They allow too many golden opportunities to pass them by. I still hold my breath for two days (at least) after they have a nice offensive game. My above post wasn’t meant to be construed that we’re about to see the second coming of the ‘27 Yankees.

The sad part to me is there are so many games where they are just boring. You can have a fast moving well played 2-1 game with great plays and plenty of action or you can have a game like today with 24 strikeouts and a lot of standing around as the pitcher takes forever to get his sign and deliver the ball.

Nope, you're not the only one. The eye test clearly indicates this year's version of the Cards are destined to be inconsistent enough to finish the season around .500, +/- 5 games.

I just can't envision them running off a 5 to 10 game winning streak. Can they? Sure as shit, they can. Will they? Time will tell, but I don't like the odds. And, I think it's going to take a run like that to even put them into a position to compete for the division, because the wild card is apparently going to be out of the question for any team in the Central.

Nonetheless...Go Cards!

I still stand by my previous suggestion. Each player can have an ear piece. As soon as a pitch is delivered the pitching coach can say slider away or 4 seam up and in or pick the guy off of second base, the entire team knows the pitch/play and there is no reason to fiddle fiddle around with 8 fake signals because there is a man on second. Keep the game moving.

The Cardinals or only going to get worst when injured players begin to return and the kids will go back to Memphis or sit. Carp goodbye playing time for Edmund and Munoz, Ozuna bye, bye playing time for O'Niell. Yadi no playing time at all for Weiters. Wacha has 1 good inning out of the bullpen and Ponce will be back to Memphis. I have no faith in this team and that is why I have not been on this site in awhile. Probably won't be back for awhile.

Man do we ever differ on this kind of thing. I was just thinking a few minutes ago they should NOT be allowed to carry a stupid card in their pocket to see what they should do. Go out and the play the damn game like you've got some sense. Just maybe a coach can direct his fielders from the dugout like it was done for more than a hundred years our maybe, just maybe, the players can read the pitch and hitter and get a good jump a batted ball. I hated it when they put headsets in a QB's helmet in football to get plays from the coaches.

Those stadiums were so loud it was awful.
They can only tell them the play. The mike shuts off well before the play is run.

They used signals before, they didn't it yell it out for everyone to hear.

Plays are too complicated bro.
They played the game for a long time using hand signals, are the QB's dumber now? He has to give the other players the play in the huddle, I assume they can remember what he say there play is. I guess you want a baseball manager to be able to tell the 3rd base coach what to do in his earpiece while he still has to give the batter hand signals?

No. Just the pitch chief. Don’t be a Trumpster and put words in my mouth.
And FYI. NFL football play calls are 5 times longer that they were when Johnny U and Bart Starr were playing. The world is more complicated.

So, the Cards are doing what they are supposed to be doing lately - win series against teams that are below them in the standings. That is commendable. However - and I realize the Cards have only earned a guaranteed split of the Pitt series at PNC at the time of this post - but we will know a heckuva lot more about this team after the next two series against Houston and Chicago. I'm looking for a Cards team to find a way to win a couple of series against teams that have some of the better W/L records in the major leagues. If they can do that - we might be looking at our boys roosting in 1st place on August 1st.

FYI the Pirates are in the top 10 with RISP so reckon that ain't as important as we sometimes think it is. :p

Why is it more complicated? You either run the ball of throw the ball in some form, maybe they have made it too complicated.

I couldn’t have agreed more on Monday. Now here we are on Thursday, and they are a 1/2 game out in the division and a 1/2 game up on the second WC. Crazy. I don’t see it continuing, but it’s fine right now. Might as well ride the utes until they buck you.

I'd say the next 2 series will tell us who we really are, houston and the cubs.
will be real interesting to see who plays how much when ozuna and carp come back, particularly carp. i'm w you, have to ride the young hot hands right now until the fade imo.

I just saw they have pushed Carp's return back maybe to early next week. Not for injury reasons but he needs more at bats after going 0-6 with 3 SO's and a walk. I also read today that their prime interest at this time a lefty reliever. That's fine, what the heck about another starter, whatever arm he throws with.

Houston is really freaking good. I think we all knew that. Seeing it firsthand is impressive. I'm almost relieved the Cards weren't swept.

#TimeToFly against the baby bears after a day off to re-group.
