Looks like Trinity will be a class 3 problem this year.

The best part is that there won’t be a need to speculate. Everything will play itself out on the field. Any Class 3 coach that says they’re happy to be facing either of them in the post-season is flat out lying.

I think Cardinal Ritter is a easier out than Trinity. But I agree.

Mayrville will be happy to face them. 66-3 over Class 3 teams the past five years.

Think both Trinity and Cardinal Ritter going be tough outs.

Cardinal Ritter got some older transfers

Trinity kids that were freshman and sophomores that faced Lamar are now juniors and Seniors with a new coach that you would assume will be better then the last one.

Till someone beats Maryville they have to be favorites for class 3. They have dealt with "stars" before and contained them. aka Ezekiel Elliott.

2014 #1 Oak Grove 69-23
2015 #2 Odessa 28-14
2013 #1 Monett 27-18 (State Championship game)

Unless a team is top 2 in Class 3...good luck playing with Maryville.

I can see Trinity getting over the hump this year. But Maryville could easily take them out. And that “star studded” recruited class could go 0-4

Maryville has shown to be a very disciplined team every time I've seen them play. If Trinity has addressed their discipline issues (abandoning the game plan and having individuals just trying to take it on their own) it could be a good game.

I’d like to see it happen man. I’d stay for the class 3 game to watch it.

I know I’m not the only, but was I the first on this board to predict a Trinity Class 3 title? :D

I was the first 3 years ago to bring to the attention of this board the recruiting at Trinity.

That same source telling better lookout for Cardinal Ritter. They are loaded and have good coaches.

Maybe I should put it this way, who else on these boards is predicting a Trinity class 3 title this year? :D

I don’t think much of that program.

SOOOOOO, you don't think that talent trumps coaching? Because according to the 247 rating service! Trinity has three of the top 300 players in the country, including a FIVE STAR QB! THAT, plus Colquitt gets them with three D starters down! One for the year, and two DL on three game suspensions! OH WELL, NEXT MAN UP!;)

Every private school recruits students. EVERY ONE OF THEM. That’s how students end up at parochial/private schools. When public school fans cry about how they feel it’s “unfair” they selectively omit the fact that parents usually shop around to decide which community they want to live in based upon the school district, and if their kids play sports, that’s a variable too. All it takes for a kid to be eligible after a transfer in public schools is for their family to move into the district. Anyone that doesn’t acknowledge that happens regularly simply isn’t being honest with themselves. Either way, all the crying in the World won’t change MSHSAA’s rules and it’s more fun to watch people spaz online thinking there’s a conspiracy than it is to try and convince them that they don’t know the rules as well as they think they do.

If they do move up to Class 3, maybe they will at least win their district this year.

Do you HAFTA win your district to be good? LAST season, Colquitt was 1-2 in our region 1AAAAAAA(district)! And we came within an eyelash of winning the AAAAAAA state championship, before an untimed down 38 yd. FG did us in! And they won four games on the road(each over 200 miles) two against nationally ranked opponents, to get to that final! It AIN'T how you START but how you finish!

Just for giggles! I took the liberty of perusing the Trinity roster from last season! And they graduated about fifteen from a roster of 50! THIS season, they have SEVENTY! THIS COULD be an entirely different cat than you saw in 2017!

False: If previous school district checks the box that they moved for "athletic reasons" they are automatically ineligible for 1 year. The family can appeal and then MSHSAA committee makes the final ruling.

It isn’t false. Parents can enroll their kids into ANY high school when they’re entering their freshman year and it can be for ANY reason they choose. Yes, even athletic ones. Unless a kid or their family states that they’re transferring their kid solely for athletic purposes, moving into a new district will satisfy MSHSAA. The rules state “PRIMARILY athletic reasons” as the disqualifier. Athletics can be among several reasons stated for transfer. It just can’t be THE stated reason. There are at least a dozen exceptions that allow for immediate eligibility. Since school districts are geographically bound, moving your entire family out of one district and into another IS one of those exceptions. Yes, the originating school can object and an appeal is then necessary to become immediately eligible ... which happens frequently.

If Trinity is overrated, then splain their scheduling East St. Louis, La Salle, Ohio, and Colquitt?

Scheduling doesn’t prove anything; it’s how you perform against that schedule that matters.

I predict they go 1-3 against those schools.

Having good athletes doesn't automatically make you a good TEAM. They may end up being good but I'll believe it when I see it .

bullitpdq how many kids does Monett have playing soccer now and how many kids do you have in your high school that have no cultural heritage of playing football? That probably has more to do with numbers then anything.

I don't know for youth, but when I played youth football in our class had about 100 kids total in 6th grade that was both boys and girls, I counted kids from our old team picture, 43 praticpated in the youth 6th grade team that year. Currently in my sons 4th grade class there is around 90 boys that's right just boys, and only 28 are out for football and of that 3-4 of them are from the local private schools. So back in the 70's about 45% of the boys participated in Youth football, now less than 25% do. I went back and looked at all of our old numbers and 12 years ago we were averaging close to 32 boys per grade around 120 overall kids total in the program, now if we get to 80 kids we feel we are doing good and 28 is our largest by class. Numbers don't lie participation is dwindling.

And HOW does THAT matter in 2018? According to MAXPREPS, Trinity has 5-4 stars and 7-3 stars on their roster! Colquitt's most talented team in 105 years, had a THIRD that number! Underestimate them at your own peril!

HOPEFULLY you're right! Because Grayson is the MOST talented team we play! And THEY have HALF of the 247 rating services roster for ALL of Georgia, with 20!

In Missouri, a district championship is won in the last 3 weeks of the season before the real state playoffs begin. We have 8 team (or less) districts with seedlings based on a points formula. You lose, and your season is over. It's different than Georgia where you have four teams from your district that are facing teams from another district. We slug if out in our districts first. So no district championship ... no state playoffs.
