Lincoln

Brad Drehle will not be returning as head coach of the Lincoln Cardinals for the 2025 season. I believe this will Lincoln’s last year in 11-man football before going to 8-man in 2026.
Always sad to see a town lose their head football coach. Unless the coach got ran out of town but that's another story. The good news is at least that town will be getting some decent naps in the near future!

Probably smart to get someone who knows 8-man to get the building process going.

I would assume when Lincoln starts in 2026 their schedule will be a nice mix of WEMO and I-70 schools.

Also keeping up with football news in that area, Stover is co-op with Cole Camp for middle school football next season. All part of their plan to start 11 man football soon.

Building process? Its already built! Cant win in 11 man football? Drop to 8 man and WIN!! Also get some good naps! Win-win-win!

Habit seems to have started in the east... and they seem to be expanding. True Keystone State football right there... apparently...

Gotta be honest, I would've liked those numbers at my HS.
We call it 'The Archie/Drexel Plan'.

Cant' win in 11 man and blame it on numbers?

Drop to 8 man and have some good years here and there because you play a bunch of thumpers.

And while you're at it..the teams that have been destroying you for decades (even when you had similar numbers) get kicked out of the conference so you can win at bball and track too.

Ummmm, I was strictly talking about there being 78 females compared to 55 males in my HS. I like my chances on Friday nights, after the football games.

I thought they got turf in 2018. They got a new stadium. The nicest field in 8 man, imo, St Joe Christian. That grass is like a mattress.

I think Lincoln is hiring Lane Johnson. Should be a good fit for them. He's a Lincoln grad, played there on some really good teams, has been invested in the community, and has been an assistant there in the past (I think). Small schools can have a problem holding onto coaches... he should bring some stability there moving forward.

They've got a good senior class returning. Jr high struggled some this year (but had been good in youth). They've got a really strong youth program playing in a really good league (Skyline, Warsaw, Lincoln, Crest Ridge, Windsor, Osceola, sometimes Cole Camp & Northwest). He's got a chance to make a big impact there.

Any idea on when they'd have a Varsity team ready to play? Good to see a local school adding 11 man football. So many have dropped. It's killed the I-70 and WEMO. Some small schools have held on (Midway, Crest Ridge, Gallatin, Polo) but every time a school like Wellington or Lincoln drops... just gets harder for those small schools (to schedule, to compete).

Both those conferences used to be so good, it definitely hasn't been what it was. That 8 man/11 man split hurts as locally there are some really good athletes coming up in this area that will be freshman next year. Both the I-70 and WEMO schools have a lot of good, multi-sport athletes in that 29 class (and a lot in the whole West Central Mo area).
