Liberty 7 lamar 14 final

The hook and ladder play comes back to haunt the Tigers in the final seconds of the half. Good defensive battle so far.

Lamar better get pumped up and make some adjustments in a hurry with Liberty getting the ball after half. So far their mix of short passes and qb runs have been tough to contain.

Offense looks fine, just can't have drive killing penalties. Hopefully the fact Liberty has 9 going both ways will become more visible as the game wears on.... Kudos to Liberty for being ready to play. But come on....did you have to use the hitch and pitch?!?!

Liberty cannot convert on downs. Lamar takes over on their own 20 with 2:30 left. Still 7-6 Liberty.

Lamar marches down and scores! Some beautiful passes by sophomore McKarus. Embry runs in the 2pt to make it 14-7 lamar. Liberty runs it back to the 20. 40 sec left

Liberty marches down but cannot get it in. Lamar wins!! Liberty badly wanted PI on the last play. What a game! Hopefully this open Lamar's eyes as the CJ game did for Webb

I don't think it was a case of closed eyes. Apparently the SCA is pretty good this year and Liberty won it.

That was incredible finish.. I think Liberty coach had an argument, but I don't think you're ever going to get a game deciding call right there unless it's an absolute no brainer

Hats off to Liberty. They have a lot of younger talent too so I don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon.

What a showing by sophomore QB Stuart McKarus. He has been rock solid all year. Finally had a weak moment in this game and coughed one up after a good run. Even though he's a sophomore he stays calm, hits a couple BEAUTIFUL passes during that 2 minute drill, and ended up taking in the TD to take the lead. This kid is going to be special

Im gonna go give him a huge hug when he gets home

Funny to see Libertys coach crying to the officials at the end of the game.
Why is this funny??? Reciever was hit before the ball was there, pass interference whether it's at the start of the game or the end. Not as bad as the "interception" in the endzone that went Lamar's way.

looks to me like Lamar is only playing with 5 in the box to stop Liberty's spread; 4 rushing and 1 LB responsible for the QB

Bang/bang play, but looked clean to me; if the Liberty receiver holds on the the ball in the end zone the play before than you wouldn't even have to worry about the refs...

Reactions: O line wins games
Anybody know what the official ruling should be on the reception/interception in the endzone where both receiver and defender had their hands on the ball and both came down with the ball in the endzone? In today's game they ruled it an interception and gave the ball to lamar on the 20. Is there an official rule covering this?

I agree it was a bang bang play but when those plays are a

True it was a close play. No official is perfect but 2 crucial plays that didn't go Liberty's way that should have.

The way i see it lamars player had inside position on the liberty reciever and became the reciever. The liberty reciever had to attempt to break up the pass and not the other way around

You can watch it Mycountry website. INT is at 1:47:00. Watched both about 5 times. I dont think you can fault the refs on either call.

This board does weird things sometimes!

I had a half written post on my laptop that I never posted, then when I posted my comment about the final play from my phone, it included my half written, never posted comment that I left on my laptop o_O

I thought the "duel" possession int should have been a td. Im glad it wasnt but i think if the ref was in that corner of the endzone then its a td and lamar doesnt have 15 sec to wrestle it away

Lamars corner was in front and caught it first. It was libertys reciever that was trying to wrestle it away. Atleast thats how i see it through by homer glasses

I wasnt there . Just watched the webcast. Reciever beat him by a step and appeared to catch it. He was behind him and
Didnt come back to the ball so it wasnt underthrown. Video is so far away its hard to tell

I was about 15 yards away from the play and I got a good picture of the play. Wilkerson has control of the ball and the receiver reaches back to get a hand on the ball. The defender has both hands on the ball with the ball on his chest. The receiver is the one trying to wrestle the ball away from the defender.

Im not saying that you are wrong. The video i saw doesnt make it clear who caught it and then pans away so its impossible to tell. It was a 50 / 50 ball and im just glad lamar is moving on

Yeah. I got online to watch the video but it doesn't show much. I'm a member of the media and was on the sidelines on about the 20 yard line on that side of the field. Looked to me that both players got their hands on the ball at the exact same time and both came down with the ball in between them, once they were on the ground the Lamar player pulled the ball to the center of his chest after a few seconds and the eagle player came with it. Really looked like it was a legitimate toss up for possession of the ball. I'm not trying to stir up controversy, I just wondered if something was in the rulebook about this possibility. Liberty had several chances to put the game away in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter and they didn't.

I will post a link of the picture sometime on Monday that shows Wilkerson intercepting the ball. The receiver did not have his hands on the ball until they started to the ground. I don't know how to put a link to the picture online, so I will take it to a friend that can.

The play was feet away front of me. Both players had a hold of the ball the entire time....neither one ever gave up possession. The thing that helped Wilkerson was he rolled over trying to muscle the ball away right as the refs were trying to figure out what to call. The rollover didn't gain him possession but was the last motion before they made the call. In my opinion it was a tied possession which I thought would go to the offense. Not sure if that is the rule or not.
