Liberty 7 lamar 14 final

Yes, the refs got it right. 43 was in front, Liberty receiver was fighting for it, even as they were falling to the ground. When they hit the ground, 43 secured it, Liberty receiver rolled over on top and tried to wrestle the ball away. Possession 43, 1st down on the 20. End of "controversy". Blocked pass on the final play was not even close to being PI, either, so don't go there, next.

And, for the love of all humanity,, someone move that guy with his stupid cow bell. It is clearly a breech of the rules to be clanging that stupid thing while the opposing team is at the line and starting to run the play.

Really? o_O

Glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty. All in the eyes of the beholder. The game is over. And it was a great game.

Looked like the Lamar guy wiffed at it first pic, next pic looks like it's on the side of the recievrrs helmet or facemask then the pic on the ground looks to be all defender with the ball. The receiver has gloves on and cannot be seen on the ball but clearly can see both hands of the defender. As said can't be changed now but still sounded like a great game.

First of all, great pics and to get a burst of four photos for such an important play is fantastic work by Jordan Burton.

Secondly, the first three pics show a loose ball and no possession by either during the play. Until the fourth photo, where Lamar player is on his back, with ball cradled within both his arms and resting on his chest. Liberty player is laying next to him and may not even be touching the ball. This may be where the Lamar player had rolled over at the end to clearly finish with possession.

Generally in every level of football I've ever watched, true 50/50 balls are awarded to the offense. In the NFL it's a rule you hear all of the time. And whether a defender gets into better position doesn't make him become the offense. But these 50/50 calls are usually just that - 50/50 pretty much from initial grab/touching to the ground and both players maintaining their hands on the ball typically in some interlocking arms and/or hands.

Didn't gather a 50/50 thing from the pictures.

Hey, to this very day Bills fans continue to insist that the "Music City Miracle" was a forward pass ;)

It was a lot closer from a neutral fans perspective than you're saying. I said earlier that I don't think you'll ever get that call in that situation, but there was definitely an argument for it.

Somebody please put the clip of the Liberty hitch and pitch that scored. I think it was a lineman that got the pitch and scored. #58 like 6'3" and 235 lbs. That's allot of momentum coming around the corner. That kid was a beast ! I don't think I would have been too excited to attempt that tackle.

It looks to me like the official got the call right on the interception.

Real time I thought the last play of the game looked like pass interference but it wasn't a clear call and Liberty had their chance on the play before. On replay it looked too close to call so I don't think there is any real controversy.

Game was poorly officiated, however in the greater scheme I will take my hat off to Mountainview Liberty. They were well coached, conditioned and strong. It is a shame that the way things are set up often the two best teams don't get the chance to meet for the ring. It is what it is, I am proud to be a Tiger, however I'm not so heartless as to state that Liberty is anything but the toughest team we played this year, and from the looks of it will give us all we can handle next year should we be fortunate to reach this level once more. Win or lose, Saturdays game will go the books as the most exciting and best defensive football battle I have ever witnessed, and not only at a high school level.
