Don't know much about this Hannibal team. Has anyone seen them play this year? By the looks of the stadium aerial view it doesn't look like they have much visitor seating. Kearney 28-7

Hannibal beat a pretty good Battle team....but none of their other wins is really impressive. I do worry that Kearney's schedule has been soft since the Liberty North game. That being said, I still think Kearney wins this one by 10+.

I've only watched about 10-12 minutes of Kearney football online and it was probably their worst 10-12 minutes of the year but other than that they have been dominant. I think Hannibal will easily be the best team they have faced since Liberty North but I'm with Uncle Rico. I think their defense if going to make it tough for anyone to score much on them. I think Hannibal makes them work for 3 to 3 1/2 quarters but I think 28-7 sounds about right.

Copied & Pasted from another thread:

(Hannibal) Have you seen them play? Are they a threat to beat Kearney? I know Hannibal beat Mexico twice. Beat a 'bad' JCH team (twice...plus beat a pretty good Cass 3 Fulton team). Beat an over-rated (?) Battle team but a signature win nonetheless. Kearney hasn't played anybody since week 3. I'm not convinced their good.

REPLY to post above:

Hannibal is VERY good imo..I saw them play Jeff City Helias in the playoffs and came away very impressed. They have a running back and quarterback who are both VERY special...very quick and elusive and a threat to go the distance everytime they touch the ball.

JCH is far from a BAD team btw...struggled with injuries and adapting to a new Coach and system this year and they play a BRUTAL schedule for a class 4 team. Don't kid yourself...they could beat the vast majority of Class 4 teams accross the state on a given night. When Tim Rulo gets those kids totally buying in to his program...they will be back near the top real soon.

Back to Hannibal...they have great overall team speed (in addition to the RB and QB)...but not dominating overall size and depth up front. They have one big stud 2-way lineman (going to Purdue)...but not great line size otherwise (other than a fireplug Soph NG) and most of their kids go both ways.

Hannibal is a threat to beat ANYBODY because of their super explosive skill kids...but also vulnerable imo because of their lack of depth and overall size upfront and they did not appear to be (from watching them one time) an overly dominating defensive team.

Should be a good game...not sure how I would pick it. I would probably lean towards favoring Kearney but would not be totally surprised if Hannibal wins.

We will send MSHSAA a thank you card the minute you sent CJ one.

Send one to CJ for What???

Webb kids won that on the field, not bureaucrats setting around deciding to give Kearney a pass to St Louis so they could maybe sell more tickets

So the late game fumble by CJ qb had nothing to do with your win?

Here we go again...
Can we not just play the games in hand, give credit where credit is do and move on?

Hannibal is good enough to get this far, give them credit .

Sure it did but I don't think WC needs to thank anyone! CJ did not give them possession or stand idly by and allow WC to score. WC took the ball in self preservation and won the game!
No thank you, no apology. CJ played a hell of a game so I will give credit where credit is due but they did not play well enough to win!
Back to subject at hand, we know Hannibal will have there hands full with the Kearney D... How will the Hannibal D match up with Kearney O?

Gee, I guess diplomacy only works in thermal nuclear war...

God bless you, scout, but wanting K and Webbies to love each other is like asking my neighborhood's dogs and cats to do the same. :)

Now to the substance at hand I have to (God help me) agree with Blizzard Hannibal has to prepare for Kearney's field-stretching passing game. With Jess Davis on the receiving end (K's big big senior star next season) they better have size and speed on the back end of their D as well............I tell you I never, ever expected what I am seeing out of the younger QB Hinck through the air (his older brother developed in to some kind of passer two years ago as K fans will remember).

What do you mean Webbies and Kearney people don't get along? The Daddy and I just agreed on something.
We can all have different opinions and perspectives but we don't have to be mortal enemies.

Yea too much is made of s rivalry with Kearney. I would rather lose ten state championship games to Kearney than a Scrimage to CJ, Carthage, or Neosho

Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings here but were not talking Middle East politics, only high school football.

Hat Davis out for the year with ACL tear
As posted in another thread this being the case I would have to think the Hannibal game is a tossup..............two years in a row K has lost a Davis kid to a major injury. Total buzzard luck I guess...........

I hate to hear any kid from anywhere getting hurt... I see 3 Davis' on the roster, which one is hurt?

He's been out for two weeks...and they didn't slow down. They have a lot of avenues of attack. Not the same as losing Zach Davis last year--that cost them big time.
That is more about the competition than anything else in my opinion. Again I do have concerns about the level of competition they have played.............we shall see Saturday I guess.

He was a solid receiver--and had over 600 yards. But their offense wasn't built around him--receptions dispersed to a host of players. Zach Davis was a top notch player--now a D1 baseball player. That was a major blow last year.

If Hannibal plays all lineman both ways I give the nod to Kearney. They will wear them out with there depth and will be better conditioned. You need fresh kids for 4 quarters IMO.

Score don't matter just a W.

They have played a tougher (higher rated) schedule than Hannibal. But Hannibal did beat Battle, a team comparable to Belton.

Not to say that this should matter at all but...
Hannibal is playing at home with a crowd that will have no respect for a team from across the state.
I look for their A game 100%, any less from Kearney will equal a big L...
